Surely most people realise by now that the words 'Tesco' and 'Finest' are mutually exclusive - it's impossible to use the two words together without gales of laughter!

If you want quality, go to Waitrose. If you want quality, with lower prices, go to Aldi.

If you want high prices and low quality (and enjoy eating horse, perhaps?) - stick to the increasingly unpleasant and downmarket Tesco. :)
  • They are vile now. We won't be buying them any more. The traditional pork ones have a nasty after taste, the skin is tough, and they don't brown properly. The pork and apple ones are not good either.
We have tried Waitrose - and they are better, but not as nice as the old Tesco Finest ones. Grrr.
  • sainsburys ones are pretty good btw if you are thinking of switching across, i only buy them when theyre yellow stickered of course otherwise still too expensive!
    Car Boot Queen!!

Clothes Golden Rule: Never pay full price unless it is an utter bargain in the first place!
Sales, boots, charity shops, ebay- why would anyone ever pay full price for anything??!

We buy most meat from the butchers but we prefer Tesco's Finest sausages to those we buy there.

The prejudice against Tesco can go too far - however much I might dislike their seedy style. Tesco's 'Finest' sausages used to be as good as any and far better than most: read the label!

I stopped buying them when they fiddled with the nutmeg and black pepper variety and started trying to appeal to the Channel 4 foodie market. But quality wasn't an issue - at least at that stage.

If anyone is lamenting the passing of a good, traditional spicy pork sausage, I can recommend Morrison's Signature plain pork (also available as sausagemeat I noticed this week).

These are actually better than the sausages in any of my local butchers (who I usually use for fresh meat) - and they are extremely good butchers.

Not all supermarket meat is rubbish - even if much of it is.

In my opinion you can't beat Powter's Newmarket sausages.

I am a taster for Tesco Finest Produce and I have just done a review on their Finest sausages.

I think they have great meat content, just enough added flavour (ie: honey and mustard) and cook great.

I managed to get 2 packs for £5.00 as they where on special.

First pack I made a casserole with as they had 12 sausages in the pack and the other I just made sausage, eggs, bacon.

    I would highly recommend them.

Husband thought they were Farmer market sausages they where that good.

    :D
  • Tesco Finest sausages used to be delicious - but they have changed. They are unpleasant now. And they are smaller for the same price. I know several people who are unhappy about the change.

We tried Waitrose ones the other day, and they were better, but not as good as the old Tesco Finest.

I am not biased against Tesco - I have been a loyal shopper there for 20 odd years. However there seem to be a lot of subtle changes that are starting to get to me. I may be changing my loyalty soon.

The sausages are the final straw!
  • Most finest/TTD sausages are actually very tasty.

Sorry to pick up on an old thread but I shopped at Tesco yesterday for the first time in ages having been shopping at Sainsbury's recently due to a plethora of £12 off a £60 shop vouchers. I always buy finest/TTD sausages and am not happy with the change from the last time I bought Tesco's. First thing to note is the caramelized red onion ones have only 74% pork, I am sure this did not used to be the case. The third ingredient after Caramelised onion (15%) is water so as well as a smaller pack size they are also selling water.

    Back to Sainsbury's I think!
