Tesco Finest Sausages

What has happened to these!?
Not just a change of packaging it seems but they don't cook properly (then don't darken and just look pale and unappetising however long you cook them), they taste worse (possibly because there's no egg or gluten in them any longer) and (the sneaky bit) THE OLD PACKS WERE 454g, THE NEW ONES ARE 400g. Same price of course.
And this is supposed to be an IMPROVEMENT to the 'Finest' range???
The Tesco con continues.

I got to be honest, I don't know why people buy the finest/taste the difference sausages full price. They are usually around £8 a kilo and you can get lovely fresh sausages from the butchers (if you have one local) for around £6. They taste so much better IMHO.0

Don't know what happened to them, I've been looking for the Finest spicy lamb sausages for ages now, seem to have vanished from the face of the earth.0

I do use my local butcher but their sausages either have more fat or lower meat contents, and less fancy choices too unfortunately. Most finest/TTD sausages I've tried are actually very tasty. Tesco's finest range are often on offer so it'd work out £6.25/kg if one can buy two packs at a time.0 -
No problem with cooking Tesco sausages here. They look and taste fine when cooked.0

That last line is certainly right! It seems as if Tesco is determined to run headlong off the cliff!
When they recently repackaged their 'Finest' (sic) range I looked at their loose Assam tea. Everyone else sells it for £1.40 a packet - just as Tesco used to. Tesco, however, used the updated packaging and marketing hype to increase the price. It's exactly the same quality as Sainsbury's and Morrisons - just more expensive and in fancier packaging.
Getting back to the sausages, yes, they have changed the recipe but I hadn't noticed the package size scam - well spotted!
If I had Tesco shares I would be off-loading them pretty fast just now. It's starting to look like a company that has forgotten how to learn.0 -
