www.trustbubble.com - WORTH A LOOK!!

After reading the myopic Lucyinthesky's rant in ripoffs, I wanted to share my experiences with bubble to give a balanced point of view.
Bubble is a service that backs up your mobile numbers from your phone without the tiresome cables and software and its easy and quick. They have three plans
Trial - FREE (£1.50 registration charge)
Monthly - 1.50 per month
Annual - £10 per year

The trial has a built in "recommend a friend" feature, which will send a single text message to your address book recommending the service.

This feature does not happen the the monthly or annual plans. Although you can get the annual plan for only £5 if you choose the recommend a friend feature.

Out of curiousity and as I have just upgraded my phone, I tried bubble and it is actually VERY good! (After Lucys comments, I cautiously, only had a few numbers on the phone I tried). After trying it, and looking around the site, I then phoned their customer services (Yes! They actually HAD ONE!), and they told me the recommend a friend was not spam. It is only sent out once and they paid for it.

I also asked them about the £1.50 and they informed me it was a one off registration fee and helps ensure a decent level of service for free customers. I have checked out other companies who provide this kind of service and some them offer their product free but you have to upgrade and pay up to £30 for any kind of customer services.

My friend, who got the recommend text message said it was not a "misleading" message, it simply invites you to visit the website. She also tried it, and had a problem connecting her phone. She was astounded when, within 30 minutes and unprompted, bubble support called her and helped her sort out her phone.

For me, £1.50 is not a lot to trial a service that actually works and can give you expert help on the phone if needed. I actually upgraded and paid £10 for the annual service, which is STILL really cheap, because they can support up to five phones on one account which is very useful to me as I have more than one phone. This has upset my little brother, who normally bribes me out of £30 just to move the numbers from phone to phone. (Maybe he will now post on here too)tongue.gif

I find this site great, but I do find some people come here when they have a bad experience and lets face it we all do have them sometimes. But never when they have a good ones. Thats why I like to try things myself before I make judgement.

Drake.

Surely there is a free site that does this, O.k a £1.50 charge may sound cheap and an annual charge of £10 seems low for a full year, but I'm guessing this can be done either for free or a better way of doing it must be out there, I would not pay this price for keeping my numbers stored in the event of losing them.
  • QUITE funny really that LUCYINTHESKY recommends a competitor to bubble in previous posts on this site. Coincidence?biggrin.gif

I agree Jay, in an ideal world but nothing is Free. Any company would have to surely have generate some revenue to sustain itself. That may have to come through advertising etc. I'd rather see the cost coming than get slapped further down the line!

This service may not be for everyone but I upgrade my phone every 8-12 months and I have tried cables and software on my PC and they caused me no end of problems (when they actaully work) and I need to move my numbers. This service, in 10 mins has solved my problem and saved me £20. My little brother is VERY upset.biggrin.gif

Tiresome cable? How, much effort does it take to plug the cable in?

I had a look at this the other day when I received one of these spam/whatever you want to call it messages the other day from someone I know. From what the 'join now' page says (and I don't think they're up front about the £1.50 charge either, especially when it describes it as 'free') the trial lets you backup your contacts but not restore them!? When I looked at the T&Cs it says

"Subscribers to the trial account plan who fail to upgrade to either a full monthly or annual account plan within 30 days of activation will invoke service restrictions. These include but are not restricted to, viewing stored contact numbers. Trial subscribers that do not choose to upgrade their account within 30 days will incur the following additional fees for recovery of their data: £15.00GBP - Administration fee £10.00GBP - Upgrade to Annual account plan."

So they charge me £1.50 to back up, don't let me see my backups after 30 days, then when you've lost your phone and want to get your stuff back they charge me £25(?) to get it back? Suddenly that £20 to your brother looks cheap ;)

I have checked out other companies who provide this kind of service and some them offer their product free but you have to upgrade and pay up to £30 for any kind of customer services.

Yeah, I've tried out a couple too. Zyb has worked fine for me so don't see any reason to pay someone for the privilege. Only had to email their CS once but they were helpful.

TBH, not sure I'd want someone ringing me up out the blue to find out why I hadn't got their site working!
