Royal Mail - Small Parcel Sizes Changes

Does anyone know when the new Small Parcel Wide / Deep option comes into force.

I've read that the sizes are:

Wide 45 x 35 x 8 cm

Deeper 35 x 25 x 16 cm

Upto 1kg for £2.60 second class.
Thoughts:

I think it has been in force for a couple of months now, it has certainly benefitted my sales .

Sorry I thought that the small parcel size used to be 16 x 16 x 16 as well as the 8 cm option?

All the original (ie from April) sizes plus exemptions ar still in force. Since September (someone will confirm as I'm not sure of the exact date) there has been a new exemption size which is deeper .

    Thanks Soolin,

Its interesting as the video i just watched said things were changing ie hinting that this was new, I've checked the Royal mail web site and it still shows only the 8cm and 16 cube option (no mention of the new deeper option) in the pricing. Also my local sub post office didn't know about it.

If its been in that long then I'm surprised that I have not seen any thing before.

  • But Custardy, that still doesn't give the new small size option and it's on the Post Office website even if it doesn't appear on the Royal Mail one.

I keep getting into arguments with my local post office (it's not even a sub) who try to tell me that my parcels are too wide - which they are for the 'new' small but not the 'old' small which is still in force. I found my self chanting 45, 35, 8 at them.

Even the Postmaster himself gave me a ruler and made me measure a parcel to check that the longest side wasn't over 16cm - it was 17cm but I lied because it was the largest side so it didn't flipping matter, lol (35,25,16, I'm thinking of having a tshirt printed!)

Royal Mail has extended their small parcel size to include both a 'Wide option' and a 'Deep option' - both come with the same small price from £2.60.
    Wide option

    Deep Option

    • Can measure up to Length: 35cm, Width: 25cm, Depth: 16cm
    • Send a Small Parcel, up to 2kg. Prices start from £2.60.
