How likely am i to get the following deal on upgrade from o2?
Hi all,
I have a samsung galaxy s2 on a 24 month contract which is due to expire in a few days. I currently pay £23 per month (inc friends and family discount) for 300 mins, unlimited texts and 500Mb of data.
I barely use any minutes and mostly text so the deal works out fine for me but i use tons of data and pretty much go over every month, i estimate i use around 3Gb of data per month and so it is costing me a fair bit in bolt-ons.
How feasible is it i could get the iphone 5s 16gb from 02 and negotiate 3gb of data for the same price?
I have never haggled for a new contract but always took a new one out in the past.

I think you should be able to get a better deal. When I told them I was leaving for Virgin mobile they gave me unlimited texts and minutes with 2 GB of data for around £20 a month with the first 6 months free.0

Since you've mentioned the "i" word, zero.0

iPhone 5S for £23 and 3GB of data... They would probably give you that if you bought the phone outright for £549. I would shop around for prices to get a realistic idea of what that phone will cost you and either change the phone you want, buy the iPhone outright or accept the best pay monthly price. Buying it outright tends to work out the cheapest overall but £549 over 24 months averages out at £22-23 per month and that is before you consider the airtime.0

It won't happen, or anywhere near it.
1) o2 are not renowned for offering decent retention deals.
2) even if they were, you still wouldn't get anything close to this, as you have picked the most expensive handset on the market at the moment.
3) these are the most popular handsets about, providers don't have to offer anyone great deals to take them, they will be snapped up anyway.
4) Check third party websites like e2save and affordable mobiles for the best deals out there at the moment for the 5S.
5) If you want to retain your current package cost, pick a more realistic handset.0 -
I actually had a pain free conversation with 02 retentions on behalf of my Wife.
She was finishing a 24 Month contract for I phone 3GS.
I indicated early in conversation that I would either request the phone unlocked and go Sim Only at TalkTalk for £3.50 a month.
Answer: No problem cannot compete.
Or Would like an I-Phone with 16Gb (Any) to price match at least the outlets who carried 02 (ie carphone warehouse)
Answer: Sorry cannot do ANY deals better than website on Apple.
She apologised and said she could spend an hour on the phone selling me a cheap Samsung etc but as I had indicated we have I-Pads, Pods etc in house
She would not waste my time.
Pac instant.
Phone unlocked next day and working perfectly on "Free 4 month rolling Sim with TT Vodafone"

The big value answer is really to forget any iphone aspirations and go sim free with your new phone. You could then go to giffgaff or similar. I mean, what does an iphone do that your phone doesnt already do and is that shortfall if any worth the extra investment?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Those rumours appear every year, and they're never correctforgotmyname wrote: »Rumours of a new one not long after xmas.
