Is there a :A nurse :A out there who wants to buy me a copy of office cheap????
That would be against the rules. By taking part in this kind of scheme you're not buying the software but using it under your employer's licence. Microsoft make these copies available for employees to use on the assumption that they already have the same software at work. You're certainly not allowed to pass it onto someone else.

If you stop being employed by the organisation that's bought the software, you're supposed to uninstall it from your home PC. The £17.99 isn't to pay for the software; it's an extortionate charge for postage and packing of the CD.

I've taken advantage of this scheme myself but don't know why I bothered. Openoffice.org is free and more than adequate for the average home user.

i have just got a new computer with vista on and it has works word processing package on. I have transferred all my word documents onto the new computer but when I open them there is a lot of funny writing on the documents and I cant seem to cut and paste them into a word document. when i got the new computer the salesman tried to persuade me to buy a package that would enable me to use word on vista but I declined. does anyone know if i buy the above this is what i need to use my word documents or should i just try and install the old word package (i dont think it will work though) Any help would be appreciated

What EXACT package do you have (ie version of word etc)? Older versions of Office work on Vista.

Not sure about the compatibility between Works and Word, but if you download OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) and install that, then you will be able to read and edit Word documents for free!
