    Hello Hbbb

    Loving the picture of Bessie :)

    My Bluebelle was beautiful to look at but a rubbish layer... my Speckledy on the other hand was both beautiful and a good layer even in her old age :T

    :wave:

    Hey MWC ... That's interesting because Bessie's my stalwart layer, every day, big eggs without fail, whereas May will miss the odd day more often recently (although we know when she has laid because she does love to announce it). Funny how they have their little ways!

    Is Little Red Hen a good layer? I quite fancy getting a red one some time, we've not had a red one before. Not sure what breed these ex batts will be, or even if they will have feathers let alone any colour! :eek: 26 days till they arrive! :T

    Hi Hbbb

    been working my way through your diary and love your writings, your pics and your enthusiasm even through the hard days. Just wanted to de-lurk and let you know. :hello: to Bessie and May, my neighbours had chooks for while and i loved watching them over the fence. They make such comforting wee clucking noises. Even Big Dog (pic aside obv) loved getting his paws up on the fence and having a wee look at them (not in a slavering kinda way)

    Thank you Daisy, that's so kind of you to de-lurk to say so, it's nice to know that the process of sharing my thoughts isn't actually a lesser-known cure for insomnia! Enthusiasm, yes, I have that in apparently irritating quantities :)

    Such a cute big dog Daisy... there's a gent with one just like him in the park near us. The guy lives in a flat nearby and brings him out not just for walkies but also for his daily grooming. It honestly looks like fleece blowing around from the brush and all the local sparrows must have a silky soft doggy fur lining to their nests as they all swoop down to pick it up and take it home with them! You must spend a lot of time hoovering!

    Our dogs are intrigued by the chickens too, apparently the little chatty clucks are contentment and indeed it is possible to tell the difference between being clucked at contentedly and being completely nagged to get supper on!

    Thanks for stopping by, please feel free to de-lurk as often as you like, it's lovely to "meet" you!

    OK, early update today as lots of other stuff going on in a bit, so I may not get on here again until much later!

    ;)MFW actions:

    * Didn't achieve a NSD but this was expected as I was out at meeting down by the fishmarket so knew I would be getting some fresh fish for us tea! The thing is though, it was very :money: because they were selling plaice for £1 per lb, but because I'm working with them on the uni project one of the fishmongers sold me 7.5 lb for £6. That's about 3.4 kg and I've just checked and found that Mr. T's fishmonger section are selling plaice at £10 per kilo :eek: so very happy with thrifty spend (we do have to eat occasionally after all)!

    * No naughty spends though, apart from 60p on a cake to take into my niece on my way back home (traditional family man trouble remedy, can't go breaking traditions for the sake of 60p).

    * Language school mailed to confirm receipt of contracts I dropped back to them (! ?) so all going to plan there.

    * SMASH day 3 / 100 ~ total still £ 100 / £ 3,000

    :(Grey Clouds:

    * Got very cold today! I appear to have legs like a marble statue!

    :)Silver lining:

    * Meeting went well, but still lots to be done before final deadline!

    :pDaily Declutter:

    * Carrier bag of ill-fitting uplifiting nethergarments deposited into textile recycling, only I forgot to count how many items, so will just count 1 for carrier bag :doh: Total 163 / 365

    :DSimple pleasures:

    * The sparrows in the end nesting box have more babies! I can just hear them today although I have to have back door open (and therefore freezing legs) to do so!

    * Dozy fat pigeon (big dog's arch enemy) was taking advantage of dogs not being able to get out by having a bath in the water butt ~ spotted this when I got home from meet because of course the first thing big dog wanted to do was get out there and bark at it. She's trying for the "catch the pigeon ..." cartoon song but isn't quite so tuneful!

    * And from yesterday, the passion flower:
    June-2014-016-e1401811000990.jpg

    :oSimple behaviour:

    Did you notice what happened above ... purchase of 7.5 lb of fish, then flit into niece's work as I passed through town on way home?

    Well the finer detail is that I walk everywhere and didn't notice that the carrier bag fish were in was slowly dripping (I had my boots on and therefore didn't notice, sure I would've spotted if it was dripping down my leg)! So, my popping in to dear niece involved going into one of the uni buildings where she works in the media room (airless, hot, no windows open, you get the setting)?

    We had brief chat, cake was passed over, much laughter and shoving me out due to smell of fish ... didn't realise the bag was dripping until I got home and then she mailed me later about the lingering smell now pervading her work space ... :o

    Love the fishy tale :)
    Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

    In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Indeed Alchemilla, but in the sad event of said netherwear being ill-fitting, there was less in the way of uplifting going on and more of a squash and spread technique (which sounds worryingly like something out of one of A*M's workouts)!

    Thanks PP, there should be more when the lower ones come out ~ I had to get Mr. Hbbb to take that one for me because it's the top ones which are blooming at the moment and I'm too short to get a good, full view of them!
    So glad the chooks don't like eating them though, will plant another one up there next year I think, when I've saved up to buy another one!

    Hope everyone's OK!

    ;)MFW actions:

    * NSD
    * Chased outstanding client payment which should come in by tomorrow so I can make a MOP for Friday.
    SMASH ~ day 4 / 100 total £100 / £3,000 (no change yet) :o

    :(Grey Clouds:

    Vomity day today, miserable weather too, despite all my good intentions to be up and at-it in respect of work, housework and garden! Had to give in gracefully by about 1.30 pm to retreat with bed, bucket and laptop so at least most of the work part got done! Didn't catch up with my mum before she goes on her hols though, so might try to do this tomorrow if we can both be available!

    :)Silver lining:

    There's always tomorrow ...!

    :pDaily Declutter:

    Removed / condensed stationery items from two boxes in workroom and decluttered boxes to recycling bin, plus a couple more bits listed on Freecycle. Total = 164 / 365.

    :DSimple pleasures:

    * Bird song
    * The smell of the garden first thing, once the rain stopped (temporarily) ~ so fresh and fragrant!
    * Omelet for tea, very soothing, very MSE, very fresh and organic eggs (mainly thanks to Bessie, May seems to be holding out on us slightly)!

    Hope everyone else has had a happy hump day ... Friday here we come!

    Hey! ' Squash and spread' have yet to feature in my workouts... 'Collapse in a shaking heap' is more common!

    Is May holding back because so many compliments were heaped on Bessie and she's jealous of the good-looking one?
