Ebid - Number of listings
DVD/Film 28,423
Ebay - Number of Listings
DVD/Film - 947,783
I think that says it all.
Not much choice for buyers. Everytime I have searched as a buyer on ebid there is very rarely anything listed in my search and if it is it's so overpriced. As a seller I wouldn't even contemplate it as it's not worth my time to even list. Free listings are only any use if you actually sell something.0 -
I've had a few Ebid.net sales recently. Enough to be an obstacle while I struggle with extra hours in my job.0

Can you please share that lone buyer around then please..it must be someone elses turn to get 'the buyer'.
Completed listings in many categeories are very interesting, it is getting to be a real struggle to find a single sold item anymore.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This month's chosen charity to benefit from sales is:0 -
Have just opened a store on Ebid, opened it really because Its really cheap and more advertising for me.
It would be nice if I actually sold something though.
It seems alot friendlier than ebay too0 -

I haven't seen anything I want there for ages, and I buy stuff everywhere (though only really sell on eBay).
The newer sites setting up now are realistically setting prices for listing that can actually compete with eBay without undercutting themselves out of the market. eBid needs to recognise it needs to generate a bit of income to promote itself well."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

When i need to sell an item quickly or have a scarce item which i'm not entirely sure of it's value i will place it on ebay.
Example: Recently i had an item that i placed on ebay starting at £4.99 and it sold for £160. I am in no doubt that had i placed this on ebid it would have either sold for the £4.99 starting price or would have most likely not sold at all.
But ebid is a still a very valuable selling platform and should not be overlooked at all. The best use i get out of it is placing items onto my stores at a set price. If you have a vast inventory of items like myself and the majority of which you are in no immediate hurry to sell then ebid is ideal and very much works as having your own web page. But having your own web page can become very expensive and it is very difficult to get yourself noticed.
I see ebid working a bit like co-operative. I keep placing my items on there along with many other 1000's of great sellers who do the same. Our items appear on google search engines etc and this in turn brings more and more people to the site. In the past year i have noticed the volume of traffic has been steadily rising and there has been great improvement in repeat trade. This past year i have made more money on ebid than ebay partly to do with the difference in fee structure.
I'm very happy on there as are countless others but if your looking for a quick fix just to offload a few items then ebay is your best bet by far. But for anyone who is willing to put a lot of time into ebid you will be rewarded but don't expect miracles over night. There has sometimes been the notion that ebid has become a sanctuary for ex-ebay rogue sellers to tout their over priced goods and provide a poor service. I can assure anyone visiting the site that the vast majority of sellers are very savvy people who refuse to be bullied into thinking that ebay is the only online selling platform out there.0 -

Too right, I've given it 7 years, what a waste.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oooh dear. 7 years.
It's taken me about 2 years to get my stock up and it's collectable items so in some circumstances pieces i have for sale are not available elsewhere.
What items were you listing?0 -

Over the years I have tried selling everything. I run an ebay business but as soon as one market dries up for me i just move onto another, and the same applies to ebid as I am listing identical stock.
I've sold sci fi, trading card games, jewellery, stationery, books, music, collectables, in fact just about everything I can think of that I can turn a profit on. Just call me del boy.
I did have one very unique range of collectable items and I sold three from that range on ebid, but as I could sell it for 5 times the profit on ebay I moved all my stock to ebay and sold it there instead.
When i have popular ranges that sell out fast on ebay I always put a note in my packages and in my emails to my ebay buyers linking to my ebid shops. I have never had a taker from that at all yet they continue to buy more from me at higher prices on ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
