Mira, you collect buddy points like loyalty points and then you can use them to bid in buddy point auctions or else for buying merchandise. Log into your account and look for a link that mentions buddy link and then you can send it to all your freinds asking them to join eBid. Each one who joins earns you at least one buddy point. You also earn fractions of points for bidding, buying and selling, as per the following copied from the eBid website:

Points are also available via the following trigger points.
    • Referring a Buddy = 1 points (as soon as your friend signs up)
    • Buddy Seller Upgrade = 2 points (if they upgrade to become a seller)
    • Buddy Seller+ Upgrade = 2 points (if they upgrade to seller+)
    • Making a Bid Meeting Reserve = 0.5% of reserve price (max 5 points)
    • Purchasing via Winning Bid = 1.0% of final bid (max 5 points)
    • Purchasing Using BuyNow = 1.0% of BuyNow price (max 5 points)
    • Receiving Positive Feedback = 0.5% of final bid OR BuyNow price (max 5 points)
ElGringo, I'd say it's fairly normal for sellers to attemt to sell anywhere they can hope to find buyers. It's just not very ethical to have a single item listed on more than one auction site at the risk of them both selling at the same time, in which case you'd be in breach of the rules if you don't actually have 2 of the identical item. Listing in several places is common practice for bigger sellers, though, as it's just another form of advertising goods available for sale online.

is this why a lot of people have a link at the bottom of their listings advising those not already a member to click here so they get the buddy points?

was also going to ask, i have a nice animated banner that someone made for me in the way of advertising, am i allowed to have that as part of my listing?

Thanks Nykmedia. Yes I have missed it and still cannot find it...perhaps you can point me to the page? Furthermore what happens to the monies they take in registering the card? It is refunded or what. Thanks again.

the transaction i got showed as a pending transaction on my credit card statement and was then cancelled, one can only assume that was after my account had been verified

I just got forwarded a copy of the most recent eBid newsletter that says, "In the coming week we will be moving our operations to our new Dallas data centre. In testing we're seeing over 250% improvement in page load times for our US users and over 200% for the rest of the world."

I'm wondering if that means all our buddy links, store links, images and referral links will now be obsolete, but am unable to access the site to see if there's anything about it in their forums. Is it just my connection timing out or is the site currenty down? Thanks to anyone who can confirm this for me :) I'm using URL www.ebid.net amd have also tried a Google search and going via that but am finding nothing, not even a blank page.

There was quite a bit yesterday on the KT board re: downtime today to allow for this transfer - and the suggestion for everyone to backup their listings and sales data - which i did last night.

Thanks Mayday, I hardly ever go in the KT forum, I'd have thought that a news bulletin would have been issued forewarning people of the downtime and changeover? First I've heard of it was when another eBidder forwarded me their copy of June newsletter yesterday, which I didn't read until this morning. Maybe thet's why I'm unable to conclude transactions? The OP obviously isn't receiving their notifications either?

I only found out late last night after returning from holiday and checking up on my YDC listings.

I think there was an announcement in the top most board where such announcements are usually made, but I caught raindropsie's and Gothicina's threads on the KT warning everyone about saving listings, etc.

They expect the site to be down for most of today.
