There's a lot of research to be done, obviously! But I do like the look of the Atkinsons website, the tone of the articles etc.

Buy the cheapest UK legal tender you can find (in terms of £/lb). They're all the same otherwise.

Thats what i look like just now Z :)

Have been using the fire quite a bit this last few months, I state that as I am currently sitting all cosy and warm in front of it, The snow is about 4-5 inches ( and still falling) or so out the window and i'm sitting all nice and warm with no central heating on, my heating was at one point £140 a month and i am now down to £95 a month, I think it can go down further still as I have £400 plus in credit in the account ( it's an OVO account giving me 3% interest )

Have been working away at uni stuff, and slowly getting to grips with my first speech, I may land up not getting to do it tonight if the snow doesnt stop yikes

In financial news I have been carrying on with my Tilly Tidies, they all mount up over the month and slowly I am seeing the bottom line come down which is always a good thing ;)

The visa is decreasing by £200 a month so that will be paid off before the 0% period runs out, i'm not to bothered about paying that off any faster tbh as it will get paid in plenty of time for the challenge and it is 0% free, I am meant to pay it off at £68 or so a month but I dont want to have to take out another 0% card so will just pay it at £200 a month.

The spends are in the main under control, we had a pizza the other night and also spent some money on wine that wasnt budgetted but that came to £30 for both and whilst it was £30 that wasnt planned it will be ok as Mr El worked both Saturday and Sunday last week so the money is more than covered.

The pension and F.I.R.E plan are still slowly evolving, I am thinking it is better to let it slowly evolve until we are in a better position to tackle it straight on, but in the mean time I am gathering information.

It is our 25th anniversary next week, I had really wanted us to go and see the Aurora Borealis but with being at university and unable to take a single day off unless it is university holidays ( we only get 7 weeks a year), so I will need to come up with another way to celebrate it.

Aberdeen?:p like you know there's no guarantee you would see it elsewhere anyway:(

Well done on the spends, I know you must have had to work on that one!

Aberdeen in this weather ? although to be fair i've never been there :) i did fancy the Orkneys or away for Up Hel Ah ... but didnt fancy the boat trip ... Aberdeen would be better :)

Aye was surprised myself that that's the only unplanned spends, i think Mr El is on a mission to pay this mortgage off as he is so scunnered with work just now,

Am on hold to the tax man ... sigh ....
  • I'm thinking I need to get our retirement plans into action soon, but it's so daunting I'm putting it off.:o Sounds like you are very organised indeed!

remember i am nearly half way through :)... it will take time, i didnt start this way, i started in thousands of debt and not even a thought of paying the mortgage off early,

its been a journey of change for me and i have learned so much along the way, when i look back to my first post and think oh my i remember that ... i suddenly realise how much my life has changed... i think thats one of the great things about a 100 month journey tbh ...

Well i was on hold for over 30 mins and eventually gave up so no go with the tax man ...

Went to speakers club tonight to give my speech and it was closed due to the weather ... part of me was relieved and part of me terrified as i just want it over and done with now lol

never mind back home and cuddled up in front of the fire :)
