Dear Sirs and Girls,
I was buying an item for £49.99 at Argos and she offered me a guarantee called 3 Years Replacement Product Care for £9,99.
I was not sure if I want it and she said that with this guarantee I can change the product any time if anything happen to it and even if I break it myself and how many times it brakes, so many times I can change it. (The guarantee is for 3 years).
So I bought this guarantee for £9.99 with the product.
I was using the item and it braked fairly early, so I change it, and after it braked again, so I change it again. Later it braked again, so I came to change it, but she said I have to buy new product and pay for new product (again £49,99) and the 3 years guarantee was not used yet!
So I agreed to buy new product (because she was refusing to change the broken one) and again I bought new guarantee for £9.99 to it.
Now I am thinking that it was unfair, but whatever.
After that I was using the product which I bought second time and again it braked, so I changed and again it braked, so she change it for me with a moaning about something that this time it is the last change, however few days later it braked again and I came to change it and she change it again, but she said that in January 2013 she will not change it anymore. (But, guarantee for this product is expiring in January 2016).
Currently this product is broken again, and I have to go there again. I don’t want to be a silly sheep and buying new product with new guarantee when I should be using guarantee until 2016!
So I may need some legal and psychological tactics advice, please, because I am so scared of the (text removed by MSE Forum Team) .
What powerful should I say to get a fast product change without arguing and too much emotional involvement?

No need to argue in person.
if they refuse a replacement, ask for her name then report it to their h.o. customer complaints who will sort it out.
Please share what this unreliable product is so I can get one for my m-i-l for Christmas0 -
Dear Deliciously Dedicated Diehard MoneySaving Devotee,
What is h.o. customer complaints?
The product mentioned is 'gourmet two rings hobs'.
The retailer is Argos. My strong impression is this: The temporary workers, which are nice teenagers would replace it to me, because this would be fair and because they are generically on the site of customers, because they feel themselves that way,
however the problem probably is the manager, which is worried of a loss and is willing to maximize Argos profits as this may leads to her personal financial advantage as well as advantage to some other workers, but not to the temporary teenage workers.0 -

Are you using this item in your home? If so, how many residents are there? Or are you using this in your business? Have you thought about learning to use it without breaking it?

Why keep buying the same make and model of hob after it has proved itself to be so unreliable?:hello:0

Why keep buying the same make and model of hob after it has proved itself to be so unreliable?
Because I have guarantee until 2016, so until then I should be getting free products anytime it brakes even if I brake it myself, this was the promise when I was buying this guarantee.

I am using it myself only. Hobs is like a computer, it brakes if is bad quality. And no, I am not stupid. And there are not many hobs to choose from. If you are the Manager in Argos, so I am not asking you for a help.0 -

Dear Quentin
You are my best friend in whale forum.
So, should I do this?:
I bring the broken product with the guarantee and receipt to the Argos and if the which will refuse to replace it, I will take it back home and immediately I will make the on-line complain and after await outcome.
And after few days someone will speak to the (text removed by MSE Forum Team) and after I will get email with an invitation to Argos and I will get replacement? Or what will happen?0 -
Ask the (text removed by MSE Forum Team) the reason for her refusing. Write it down in front of her, or record her on your phone.
Then pass it over to the complaints team. (All this assumes the get 10 policy you bought does definitely cover the 10 replacements!).0 -
Sorry - couldn't resist.Buy_one_get_ten_guarantee wrote: »You are my best friend in whale forum.

Dear Quentin,
You are still my favorite.
'Buy one get ten guarantee' is only my user name and is irrelevant to the case.
I was trying to send a link of the guarantee, however as a newbie I am unable and not aloud to attach website links in case I am a scamer-spamer.
argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8832414.htm#pdpFullProductInformation
The guarantee is for three years starting in January 2013 and the person who sold it to me said that I can replace it how many time it bakes what ever happen to it, but I don't have evidence that she said it and don't know her name.
I understand that freakvent product replacement can case loss instead of profitability, however a promise is a promise, they just have to make profits on the other shoppers who may cook less and somehow sponsor me.
It's a no way that I would be feeling sorry for a retailer as Argos.
So should I do these steps you described:?
Ask the (text removed by MSE Forum Team) the reason for her refusing.
Write it down in front of her, or record her on your phone.
Then pass it over to the complaints team.0
