Irrational dread of making a fuss?

I have no qualms about complaining and i have no hesitation in getting a fair result from a complaint and if that involves a small claims court then so be it....I just wish more people would stand up...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Thaks for the replies. I'm like others here in than I don't make a fuss when I'm being wronged, but I do fight tooth and claw if its someone I care about being wronged.
I haven't had any response from the seller yet. If I don't hear I will get in touch with Paypal and see what my options are.0 -
Dandy, what you need to consider is this.......would you have gone into a shop, looked at the item and thought 'yeah that looks crap and the price is expensive but I wouldn't want to offend the shop owner by walking away'? No, you wouldn't. You would turn on your heels and run out of there as fast as you could, finding the same item in a different shop in better condition on the way.
Why feel bad about complaining when they are in the wrong? If it's ebay (sounds quite likely) then start a dispute with them, should the seller become a bit of an @rse wipe about it. It takes seconds and they will ALWAYS go in the buyers favour in a case like this.
Good luck, stiff upper lip, and toughen up a bit. Don't let people take the p!ss out of you

I agree that it's mostly a British thing. However...
I will rain fire and brimstone myself when it's sheer incompetence or someone trying to scam me. Anything to do with work however, I'm too scared to say anything as I love my job and don't want to be seen as 'that person.'0 -
If it's Ebay, then def start a dispute with them, I have recently done that same thing on something I purchased, Ebay will contact seller for you and try and come to a good conclusion.Treat other's how you like to be treated.

I agree with HarrysN if their is a big difference in quality to what they say...then they already sold it knowing that...
I wouldn't of bothered with a message just opened a dispute (unless it was something that was not their fault/not as noticeable say a stain that could of been missed etc)
Saying that I am the same, I brought some ink of ebay that wrecked my printer and had to buy a new one...I brought plastic wallets that were so flimsy (I didnt even no you could get bad quality PS!!! :S)...list goes on really and I rarely complain. I really should do but something I feel like if I started complaining it would be about everything!! Im really starting to hate ebay lolPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
My mum always says when she needs to complain she puts her auntie x head on, auntie x being something of a hyacinth bucket lol
And that works for her and for me, forget that you're you with all your nerves, summon the image of someone bolshy and act like they would.
Would Angelina Jolie put up with shoddy goods? No she blinking well would not, so be Angelina Jolie and assert yourself as she would.

Did you buy the item from Ebay? If so (or even if not), have a look at the Ebay board on here. It is full of tales of woe from frustrated buyers!
Lots of very nice people end up with carp from Ebay and other sites and as you are well aware, the law is on your side with regards to getting a refund or exchange.
Don't worry about upsetting a seller, if they are trying to sell shoddy goods, then you are helping to protect other buyers by not accepting sub-standard stuff. If it was an Ebay purchase, you can show your appreciation (or not
) by using the feedback system. Do make sure that the seller has a chance to put things right but don't be fobbed off!
Good luck!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
