I read the Faraway Tree trilogy to dd a few years ago, and she has recently read them herself. We are now on to Rainbow Magic. With a vengeance!
Soo sorry you ended up having to take jelly to the hospital - especially after you'd done your darnedest to sort it out in the week.
And I totally understand re the smoke. Dd is round at my neighbour's quite a lot, as she helps me out hugely before and after school. She does try to give up - regularly! - and I know she tries not to smoke in the house. However... It's clear that's not always the case!
And dd has NEVER spent a night away! Aged gparents and tricky falling-asleep-habits, plus food worries all mean that it is simply not worth causing her all that anxiety.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hi Lilt, just indulging my new obsession with diary reading - replaces the old obsession with Amazon 99p digibook purchases, so properly mse! Hope you don't mind me jumping in, a little too late, with the best bit of medical advice I ever got - 2 tsp bicarbonate in a glass of water, as soon as you think a uti is threatening. Gp told me that back in the day, works every time.

OMG I really despair at smokers who smoke around children and totally get it Lility. Just being in an old smoky area would have meant that she would have come home smelly. Mine come home like that from their dads, but they are now in their 20's and the first thing they do is strip and shower. As for UTI, Jelly and I are in tune, I started one yesterday morning!! Had antob's here, but I am like a wrung out dishcloth at the mo and back pain is extremely uncomfortable. But enough about me I am hoping after Jellytot getting off to sleep after taking antob's and lots of fluid from lovely mummy that she has woken feeling slightly better.
I also hope that HIM and in laws feel some shame!! And you make them understand your pain. Did you have to take taxi to hospital and Mr A and then home again. Assume you had to go to the Victoria Hosp and that is a fair way from you, to walk anyway.
So let's try and forget about all of that and hope that your Sunday and beginning of the week goes how you want it to.
Sending hugs and kisses to you both xxxx:j I belong to Mike's Mob :j0 -
Thanks for that tip Dansman may try it. Only thing is that having suffered for many years, am an oldie you see, I don't get a slow build up of symptoms like I used to and so the sooner I can now get my hands on the antibiotics the better. But I may just give that a try say once a week to keep the 'system' clear - like human bleach!! X:j I belong to Mike's Mob :j0

Billie you poor love!! I really have all the sympathy in the world. I walked to the Royal Vic and then to Mr A and then home, with Jelly in her pram. Was soaking wet when I got in but at least jelly was dry and warm!
It wasn't Hims fault for her being left not drinking etc as he was here with me. MiL knew she was having issues and just compounded it by letting her get away with not drinking, fed her rubbish and so on. I know grandparents should dote on their children but when she is poorly with a bladder infection, piling on the sugar in everything is the worst thing for her. Sigh.
Dansmam welcome to my diary and thanks for the tip on the bicarb!! I take it it has a similar effect to potassium chloride and stops things being as acidic!
Apple if I felt up for a fight I would have told MiL and FiL to stick it until they had got rid of the dog and stopped smoking. I tried to lay the ground rules but once she is out of sight they can do as they please and obviously have. Well she won't be going again until at the very earliest November now. And hopefully not for a year when she can tell them herself that they stink. And also know to steer clear of the dog on her own. He spends the whole time she is there caged up or outside in the cold anyway so it isn't fair on him either. It isn't his fault he is the way he is. A combination of a bad first 3 months before they got him, followed by absolutely zero training, very few walks in his life and pandering that causes insane jealousy just makes for a very bad, vicious jack russell.
Anyways moving swiftly on..!
Jelly didn't wake until 9am. We are keeping the curtains closed to try and keep out some of this awful wind. So cold!! Onesies over our clothes and snug slippers are the order of the day.
I am just catching up with YNAB and then will start a full February meal plan. Todays offering is the sliced lamb and mint gravy I froze at Christmas with full veggies and maybe homemade yorkshires. We will enjoy that! I will also be making some soups up and freezing them for work as I've got through my entire freezer of frozen goodies now and am back to frozen veg, herbs and meatlol.
I need to buy a few things today so not a SFD but I hope to be MSE with the spending.Crunching the numbers trying to work out how much I can afford to put back into savings on top of the usual £300. Will need to start winding the cupboards down!! Was shocked by the documentary on the family spending £13k a year on groceries and hoarding over £1000 in their kitchen. If I added mine up I am sure I would feel very ill so instead I am just going to work on emptying it! Anyone need 4kg of ready brek? :rotfl:
Friend coming to visit also poses some issues for moneysaving. Plan plan plan!
TTYL all xx

Yes to to the ready brek - I agree with the cupboards I need to go through mine but not till I am over my operation, I'm in the pain stage atm and want to eat everything in site...
I have lots of pantry items probably all out of date need to work on those.

LOL Apple... Jelly likes ready break and it is usually £3 something in the supermarket... then they were doing a bizarre offer on the end of the aisle, 4 boxes for £5. Sold, but that is a lot of ready break to get through since she eats like a sparrow.
Underneath my right eye is constantly twitching and driving me bonkers. Tiredness. Jelly will not nap but I can't blame her, she didn't get up till after 9. By 4pm she will be a screaming wreck though. She's got 3 spoons of her antibiotics down her so far so hopefully they will start to have an effect soon.
Having such a slow day. I really want to spend some time on YNAB figuring out the months money but I am just struggling. xxx
