  • Hope Jelly got back at a reasonable time and wasn't too out of sorts.

Speed soup - known in this house as dyno-rod soup!! It certainly works, but make sure you have plenty of toilet roll in stock :rotfl:. I put chilli in mine too and jokes aside, it's really tasty. Xx

  • Not a nice night.

MiL walked in at 10 past 6... Jelly burst into tears. 'Sore'

MiL helpfully says she has hardly drunk anything today and has been very upset about her bits.. and leaves with many kisses etc. Jelly stinks of smoke. so instant shower. Apologies to smokers on this forum, and those especially with kids but it is my choice not to smoke or have anyone smoke around her and the least they could do would be to respect that choice. Anyway stand her in the shower and she instantly goes into complete panicky meltdown. Trying her damnedest not to wee and then sobbing when she can't hold it. I got her scrubbed and dried and into bed with a bottle and phoned 111. Explained it to a lovely lady. She got the hospital to call me for an emergency appointment. Hospital called and said 9:15pm (at quart to 7!) but they could have the doc ring me. He did minutes later and when i told him the last weeks history he said to bring her down immediately and he would squeeze her in. Bless him he did and he was amazing. She has an ear infection (which the doc mentioned Tuesday  and did nothing about. And she 'probably' has a UTI. Antibiotics from Mr A's were gathered and we finally got home at nearly 8:30. She was having none of bedtime so we watched the snowman and the snowdog and she finally settled down in bed. Took a while to go to sleep but she stayed where she was :)

So... Dr's can be morons, but when they are good they are very good. Fingers crossed by Monday she will start to feel much better.

And seriously fingers crossed she sleeps in or tomorrow will be hell!! :rotfl:

dyno-rod soup :rotfl: reminds me.. need toilet roll... :D

Right... the storybooks Billie... she won't sit down for much, my her kiddo. But she loves a story called Star Sailor. It is very repetitive and guaranteed to get her to sit still. Same with nursery rhymes. So those books which I don't have in my vast collection... will help her to concentrate :) predicting what is coming etc.

The DRESSES - are little vintage dresses made by Hims auntie. and they all hang on a twine washing line with little miniature pegs :D 8 of them! Going up in Jellys room :)

    Oooh
Spent 10p in Mr A's :rotfl: - some yellow sticker fresh Sage which has gone right into the freezer along with my fresh basil, coriander etc :) hahaha!!

  • Oh bless little Jelly. So glad you got a decent Dr this time and fingers crossed the antibiotics kick in quickly. Hope she has a lie in too.

Both my boys loved the Gruffalo stories and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Will browse DS2's books tomorrow for more repetitive ideas for you Xx

  • Poor jelly, hope the meds kick in for her soon.

I literally called my mum every 30 mins in the dot the first time she had dude. The second time was every hour haha. Cant stand being away from him and i totally understand the smoke thing too. I hate coming home from anywhere smelling if it. So would be worse with dude.

Ah no, poor little JT!:( What an ordeal for you both and the last thing you needed. I hope the anti-biotics kick in asap and she starts to feel better. Thank goodness it sounds like the medics involved were really good which is of massive comfort and relief because dealing with more idiots for you at this time would not have helped
Obviously as you will already know drinking LOTTTS of fluids is the best way to speed up the passing of a UTI.. and although maybe unpalatable for a toddler, cranberry juice is recommended even if diluted or mixed with another kind of juice - (ideally non citrus). water best if she will go for it! poor little jellytot, not a nice thing for her to be going through.

Have a peaceful night and hopefully morning too, hope you get a bit of a lie in at least.
PS-Love the Snowman & The Snowdog in this house! :T

  • Have got those books Lucky!! She loves the Gruffly and the Gruffalo's child. We also have the tales of acorn wood by Julia Donaldson thanks to my lovely (LURKER) friend. Three little rhyming books.

My mum suggested these as my mute little sister would read them to her toys secretly when she was on her own and about 3. Mum recorded it to show the speech therapist that she was perfectly capable of speech, just didn't want to. lol.

Thank you though! All ideas gratefully accepted! xx

  • Haha crikey look at you all!! :D

Harrysmummy I deliberately tried my best this time to just relax and enjoy it. But it is hard knowing that they smoke. Glad you understand. I am more than a little OCD anyway and smoke just rings my bell.

Levi in this house JT must only be used for the KING of defenders and captains, the one and only John Terry <3 ....lolllll

Unfortunately due to a medical issue I get UTI's monthly, and know all the tricks which is how I have managed to keep her comfortable but unfortunately not get rid of it. I admit defeat in hours with mine, and have a stash of antibiotics in the house. Shame I can't give them to Jelly.

I love The Snowman... and also The Snowman and The SnowDog. Amazing childhood memories and now another one to boot. :)

HarrysMummy I can guess why you got the book. The same reason I took a picture of a drain cover :rotfl:
