Groupon/Mobilephonesdirect

Hi there,
new to the forums and a first time poster, but I've gotten good advice from here in the past, so here goes...
I recently ordered a groupon for an iPhone5c from Groupon in relation to mobilephonesdirect DOT co DOT uk :
I've paid for the groupon, and redeemed it with the phone company. All was well.
Last week, I received an email from mobilephonesdirect asking me to call to verify some security details.
It has been 1 week now, and I've called a total of 9 times. Each time, I was put straight to being on hold, and waited, at times up to an hour before hanging up.
I'm not impressed with the services of mobilephonesdirect, and it looks like this is nothing new for them from my recent web searches.
My question is: how do I go about getting a refund? If I'm unable to speak to the company at the best of times, how am I to get my money back? It was to groupon I paid the initial £9.99, is it from you that I would look for a refund from?
I realise at the end of the day £10 or so isn't going to kill me, but I'm so sick of companies just getting away with this kind of service (or lack thereof) and relying on customers to just give up and go away, leaving them with their cash.
Anyhow, suggestions are very welcome.
Thanks,
Bailey

Groupon is your primary contact - ask them directly, what you need to do to get a refund. They may have concerns already, so do it urgently.0

Hi Bailey,
Just wondering if there's been any development with your order or what steps you took in the end?
I bought the same deal through Groupon but mine was back on 25 November 2013. I too received an email asking me to call Mobilephonesdirect to conduct an over the phone security check, but haven't been able to get through to anyone at all (tried at different times of day, stayed on the line for up to an hour also!).
The order tracker page on the oft-crashing website changed my order's status to "Pending - Network Credit Check Decision" last week, which gave me some hope that the order was progressing but since then nothing has happened. Their website does say that the network's credit check can take up to 12 hours, well it's now been much longer than that.
I'm wondering what you decided to do in the end with your order and if you were successful at all?
Cheers,
Al0 -
My Order went in on 28th November although direct on the site not a groupon thing and mine changed to "Pending - Network Credit Check Decision" with 24hrs but has stayed at that since then.
If you read the reviews on this company its a miracle they are still trading with all the bad feedback they get.
I have rang several times but had to give up after time on hold and there have been no response to my emails. The websites spend a lot of time not working either down completely or I am unable to log into my account.
I just want to cancel it now, this would have saved me about £220 over the 2 year contract rather than going through Vodafone directly to upgrade but with the amount of hassle already it just not worth it!0
