Her old contract was with Virgin on fibre. It's all been taken out now - if they'd indicated such long delays she could have waited until after xmas. Too late now.kwikbreaks wrote: »If the current contract hasn't been cancelled or can be reinstated then I'd say that's the way forward - at least until after Christmas as nobody wants a pile of extra issues then.
Was this fibre or ADSL?
I'm thinking she might need to grab EE or someone - apparently they're installing fast in the area according to a neighbour. The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0 -

All installs are done by BT OR regardless, so no ISP is going to be any faster than another-they're all in the same queue. No free lunch, and no free laptop

As macman says there is no point cancelling and reordering elsewhere.
I won't be cancelling my VM until after my install as I had my fingers burned with a no-show by Openreach before. I do need to cancel by the end of the month though to avoid penalties.0 -
Could you not get hold of a Sambamobile dongle?. You just need to watch adverts to top the thing up.
Alternatively, does your OH use a laptop to surf the web?. If so, can she not decant to a cafe or pub that offers free WiFi? (making sure to change the DNS settings to those of either 'openDNS' or 'Google DNS' for security reasons). She doesn't need to spend any money in the cafe/pub, just ask for a glass of tap water as they have to provide this for free.Never Knowingly Understood.

Yeah right - every pub and cafe in the land has to let you park your backside in their seat and surf away on their wifi without spending anything. I'll be sure to make a note of that. She doesn't need to spend any money in the cafe/pub, just ask for a glass of tap water as they have to provide this for free.0 -
They're obliged to offer you free tap water if you are a customer for their paid-for services (food or drink). They're under no obligation to otherwise allow you to sit there all day at their expense while you update your Facebook page.No free lunch, and no free laptop
