I don't think I'll be posting any but I'll probably do a few and give them out. On the one hand, they're a waste of money and time, especially when you'll be seeing the person and could just say Merry Christmas to them.

On the other hand, we also have elderly relatives that we couldn't send e-cards to and who like receiving Christmas cards. I think there's a bit of competition between one relative and her friend over who has the most cards up!

I also don't like (and this goes for any card for any occasion) the cards you get from places like Moonpig where they print it out and send it. Part of the pleasure of them for me is it being handwritten by your loved one and seeing their handwriting. I might be mad but I and a couple of friends have taken it further and actually hand-write letters to each other periodically throughout the year to share news, I think we're rebelling against the internet!

I do like to have some cards too as I think they look lovely put out on display, but what I and a few people I know do is if we sent each other a really nice card in a previous year, we keep it and then just put it out again in the next years!

Yes I'll be posting some and giving out to others. I regularly give to charity anyway and this time of year won't be any different. Nobody I know sends ecards, we will wish each other merry christmas via text, on facebook, through christmas cards and in person over the festive period.

I think it's a lovely old tradition that should be kept up and it needn't cost too much - people are prepared to spend money on ridiculous amounts of food at this time of year, why not a tenner on postage? :p

I have some stamps still from before they went up in price so I'll be sending a couple - just to my grandparents I think. The rest I'll hand deliver. We only send them to grandparents and immediate relatives anyway.

No - saying Merry Christmas on facebook etc - it's free
I'll post some to close family that I won't be seeing because it's expected. I absolutely refuse to give any to people in the office when I spend most of my waking life with them anyway! I've already blotted my copybook by refusing once again to participate in the pointless Secret Santa.

An elderly friend of mine rather enjoys receiving Christmas cards, and they constitute a good 50% of her Christmas decorations.

Exactly, please remember the elderly that live alone. Receiving a Christmas card can really cheer them up and make their day.

  • Yes, but mainly by hand. So I didn't vote. (I hate e-cards.)

I hand deliver neighbours, local friends and family. Post a handful to overseas relatives and my Grandma who lives 300 miles away.

Yes, I will be sending cards this year but I will be giving them out by hand. Most are to friends and family who live locally or to work colleages, which makes it easier to post them myself. Plan is to spend zero on postage.

I make my own cards so will be posting some and handing out work ones and local ones. The children are also sending them to their classmates.

I love receiving Christmas cards and have quite a few already to put up at the weekend when we put our decorations up.

I do know lots of people that are not sending any this year, mainly due to postage costs. I got into the habit of buying a book of 6 second class stamps (refuse to pay 1st class prices and I don't think there's much difference in the service level) with my weekly shopping so the cost has been spread out.
