This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Thanks to notjustlaura for starting our thread.

Today should be the day our roof gets fixed. I spoke to the builder last night and he says the weather looks reasonable so it should go ahead. Please all keep your fingers crossed that 1) it goes ahead and 2) there are no horrible cost surprises.

Rosie is still with us but she is really losing weight fast and DD is struggling to get her to take antibiotics. She liked the first drug but hates this second one. Of course, GDD had to taste it and tell Rosie she wouldn't take it either, which just stressed DD out more. One of those situations where I did not know whether to laugh or cry! DH managed to get it down her in the end and also came up with the idea of giving Rosie some cereal and milk to eat, ok it's not an ideal diet for a rabbit but it's getting some calories into her.

Better get a move on but will pop back again later to see Tru's advent calendar and catch up on news.

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

  • Morning all!

Not been on in a couple of days really. Am just so, so tired and today I have the beginnings of a migraine too. I had to cancel the cleaner coming yesterday as I couldn't stay awake. I guess M's stroke really took it out of me.

Seeing my CPN today which will be good and shall see what she says about getting back to normal sleeping patterns. Also need to visit a supermarket (probably Mr S) as Mr A's delivery last night included four items I'd paid for but they failed to give me. Not pleased! Also would like to visit @ldi as I've got a £5 voucher from the Daily Record last week.

Other than that, survival is the order of the day :)

    Morning,

Yesterday went well (my first day home alone with the girls) I managed to slice 2 loaves of bread, get 2 more made, tidy the house, Do 4 loads of washing plus 3 loads of 'rinses' on new stuff... Dry it all and fold and put away. I made dinner during DD1 naptime, and I spent time with the girls when awake... Did a few other bits too...

It felt good after 9 months of struggling to even put bread on to get so much done and feel tired, but not exhausted :)

Today I need to make 3 loaves (still restocking the freezer) and after breakfast I'm taking the girls to the community centre, first to weigh DD2 then to let DD1 play at the group they have there.

Apart from that I'm hoping to make dinner during DD1 naptime again, it's Chicken Korma tonight :)

DD1 and I have haircuts tonight too.

Wishing you all a wonderful day x

Ps. For those who've lost smilies (TTFTM & Judy), when writing text below go in the 'advanced' section, under the text box (under the smilies icons) are advanced options. One is 'Disable Smilies' see if you've checked that box...
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

    Morning all

Too depressed to stay for long - The buyers' Solicitor didn't get in touch with my Solicitor yesterday despite numerous phone calls. Don't know what's happening, feel deflated and in limbo. Hope he pulls his finger out this morning or I will pay him a visit (he only lives next door).

Hugs and well wishes to all in need. Hope to be back with news this afternoon. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Still dark, but forecast said it was going to be foggy here from the early hours of this morning, but doesn't look too bad at the moment. Not sure about the temperature but doesn't look like we've had a frost.

DH up and ready for work, he'll be leaving shortly.

Dinner last night was chorizo sausage, bacon and mushroom risotto and a side order of stuffed flat mushrooms - was delish, DH moaned he hadn't had enough to eat! Tonight will be quick and easy as hairdresser is coming, ham, egg and chips/jacket potato.

Work was a manic Monday as expected - and stayed like it all day - hoping today will be a little less busy. But the day flew past. The computer systems were a bit hit and miss so hoping they will be better today.

I'm going to work a little early today as want to stop off at the SM to get some money and buy some milk for work, otherwise we won't be able to get a cuppa - not good!

    Keep safe and well x

camelot how annoying, I hope it all speeds up for you. Your neighbour is an ass.

Time to face the music we had a rabbit who would not take her antibiotics after an op. We had to wrap her tightly in a towel, I would lie her on her back on my lap. Her head would be tucked into my elbow while I used my other hand to hold under her chin. Mr tru had about three seconds to wiggle the syringe into her mouth and squirt the medicine in before she broke free :D

Oh I do love an advent calendar chocolate first thing in the morning :D Each little door has a few words inside, I've been putting them on FB every day. I don't think people realise what I'm doing, so they probably think I've lost the plot, lol. Or they find it annoying so they're ignoring me :rotfl:

I decided that as it's december, I'm allowed to start lighting the Chistmassy-scented tealights. As soon as one goes out I light another, at this rate I'll have to restock by the end of the week :D I've grated lots of leftover wax and mixed it all together to make more candles. There's a few different scents in there, it'll be interesting to see how they turn out :D
