I've read on here about people having pork pies as part of xmas, it's not something I've ever come across. I wonder if it's regional? Mind you I'm from an Irish family so all our traditions won't be southern they will be a hot potch of southern & Irish.
Is the pork pie a Northern Xmas tradition anyone?
Just had a though, is it a regular pork pie or is it a cranberry topped Xmas style one?
I've also read about the steak pie on New Year's Day on here, I think that's Scottish? I'm not mad on pies but that one sounds quite nice.
To be honest i thought pork pie was a staple food at christmas time for everyone!
This year I have bought a gala pie (rectangular, with boiled eggs running through the length), usually I just get a Melton Mowbray one, a bigger one than what I would have during the year.
I quite fancy getting a game pie in (not sure if this is the official name, but it's what the deli near me calls it. Its ham and chicken) it's lovely, but its £10 and not a huge one.
