Hi,
We have had numerous problems with SCS Aintree, Liverpool. Ordered 2 sofas back on the 4th August which we was originally told would be delivered within 10 weeks. Called SCS after 8 to see if we had a delivery date and we was told that it was looking around 16th October. 16th October came and went with still no confirmed delivery date. Spoke to the store manager and he assured us the latest date of the 4th November would be well met. Again constant calling to the store to get a confirmed delivery date, nothing on the system. We then went in and spoke about compensation in the form of a deal being done for a stair carpet, 3 failed measurement dates later having waited in all 3 times for the man to come and measure, the store clerk who we dealt with originally come and measured up as he felt sorry for us. He then saw that having moved into our new home at the beginning of September we was still sitting on the floor come November. The manager then put a request to head office to loan a couch to us till ours arrived. This was arranged for Friday 8th November anytime between 7am-7pm alas no couch arrived and yet again we was failed by SCS, we then phoned the store to complain and was advised the regional manager would call us the next day. We spoke to the regional manager who asured is the loan couch would turn up Monday as he couldn't work miracles to deliver a couch on a Saturday and that he would call us back to arrange some compensation. We received the couch on Monday 11th November and never received a return call from the regional manager. We have now got a confirmed docking date of the 5th December but no confirmed delivery and a note on our case to say compensate to £78. Having spoke to the new store manager we was told basically that was the be all and end all of what they would offer us and that no refund was available to us and that we basically might aswell just except it as thats their final offer. I was wondering if anybody else had any success with something similar or any advice of what we can do? And also just to make people aware of just how poor this company really are.

What was agreed about delivery at the time you entered into the contract?
If they said delivery would be 4-6 weeks and its now 10 weeks, you could send them a letter before action - stating that if they fail to deliver within 14 days, you will be cancelling for a full refund due to breach of contract.
If there was nothing definitive agreed, write a letter making time of the essence. It effectively gives them notice that they have a deadline and that you will be cancelling if they cant adhere to it.
The first position (where the date was agreed at time of sale) is definitely the stronger of the two though. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
