New house

Hi All,

I am hopefully moving into a new house soon and am considering what TV/broadband options I have.

It is listed, so I think it will be difficult to get planning permission for a dish to be installed. The current owner has Virgin.

I am thinking about just going for BT, however, I saw there is the possibility of getting Sky Sports channels through them. Would I need a dish to receive these?

Thanks,
Tanya

Its streamed, so no you wouldnt need a dish.

To be honest though, if you are in a Cable area for Virgin I wouldn't even look at BT. Its hard to beat the VM Cable product.
  • Thanks. VM is too expensive I'm afraid :(

Sky Sports 1 and 2 are available as a chargeable option with BT Vision, but only if you can get Infinity in your area. It's not available over plain ADSL.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

You get what you pay for - BT cannot provide you with anything worthwhile that is not sent down the phone line, so unless you have a good connection it will be a compromise.

If cable IS an option for you, it would be better to seek a cashback or other deal to make it cost effective.

A listed building does not prevent you from having a dish mounted on a short pole in the garden. It is not necessary to mount the dish high up on a wall, all that is necessary is a line of sight to the satellite. Any independent installer can do this for you.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
