We are an innocent third party in a motor accident

Any 13yo car with a £756 valuation will never be double the figure even with low miles and FSH.
Asking what car it is is pointless.0 -
It would not be the first time that an insurance company used a very lowball valuation although I doubt if it would be half the true value, but without knowing the car type no-one can really say one way or the other.0
-
...and by the way. We are not looking for a blank cheque from the insurers.
Just fair play and a reasonable response. In fact, a response would be an improvement.0 -
If they came back with, say, £975. Being £200 higher, would you turn that down too?0
-
Interested in your car make/model, mileage and year as well..0

Thank you Spacey. We understand that the car was not of high monetary value. Value is realised when you are a buyer or seller. It was not our intention to be either. This vehicle was fit for its purpose to see my father out during his remaining few years on the road. He is the innocent as the other driver admitted full responsibility. There is more than two decades of no claims on his own insurance policy. He lives in the West Country where his own transport is extremely important to his life.
The example price given with its web link was for the only identical vehicle of matching specification available in the Uk. Yes we could probably negotiate the price down.0 -
Thank you makeyourdaddyproud. That would be a more realistic figure that would offer us a few options. The problem is that the insurer does not respond to our letters or emails.0

Get an accurate Glass's Guide valuation for your vehicle. It can be done online and then see if it matches what the insurers are offering.
Ultimately if you don't accept what the insurers are offering then you will have to complain and escalate to the FOS.

All the third parties insurance have to do is meet the third parties liability, they have no contract with you so they can legally ignore any letters you send them.
If you are not happy with the offer your options are strictly limited to taking the other driver to county court in his own name.
If you feel this is going to produce better results, then stop negotiating with his insurance and deal with him directly.
You can not escalate anything to the FOS as you have no contract to escalate.Be happy...;)0
