Haven't quite got the hang of judging by hollowness of sound when banging two bits of wood together yet and some nights am obviously dealing with wetter wood as the glass front goes all yucky (despite it being bought as seasoned).
So, any recommendations? I've had a rummage round on amazon etc looking at reviews, but thought I would ask on here as well.
Thanks!

Hi
I bought one of these a few months ago - much cheaper than several trademarked units that are obviously from the same source.
Works really well but split the piece of wood you are testing just before you use the meter, to ensure an accurate reading for the internal moisture content..........................

I even played around with an offer and ended up saving 50p:-)PLEASE DO NOT STEAL

And makesure you actually push the prongs into the wood, rather than just touching it!0

I ended up getting a Stihl one. Seems ok.0 -

Yes - if you read my earlier post, peruse the link and compare your Stihl and also the similar Kamasa, you will see exactly what I was referring to.
Trying to save the OP some money which is what this is all about:-)PLEASE DO NOT STEAL

Yeah looks identical to the Stihl. And about half the price. I used a voucher and got my Stihl roughly about the same price as that so I don't feel too mugged off.

Mine's a cheap no-name thing with a model name of "MD-2G". If you type that into ebay, you'll find loads on sale. It does the job for me.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
