Watchers on BIN item

Hi,

Just something that's bugging me so thought I'd ask! Why would you watch a BIN item?

I have a high cost item for sale and now have 5 watchers (due to end 14th Dec). Is it likely that they are just interested to see if it sells??

Thanks!

They may have one to sell, or personally as I reminder that I could do with one of those and need to sort it.

They're watching it maybe to see how well it sells at that price - competitors who either have the same item or are considering selling it.

I have 39 watchers on one of my listings.

May be more now, haven't looked in a bit.

Could be people watching it because they're thinking of buying it but don't want to just yet for one reason or another.
  • Thanks, just seemed odd to me to watch something that isn't an auction and was curious.

I'm sure the term 'watcher' explains that they are watching the item This Year, I was just enquiring on why this may be.

watching for any number of reasons; personally I watch BINs to see if anyone is daft enough to buy at such a high price - if they do then it's me that's been daft and my price for the same item will go up.

I often add a bin to my watch list because I'm interested in buying it but want to shop around first, check it's the right item, check with the missus etc etc. watching it means I can go straight to it when I make a decision instead of having to search it out again.

For me it's like an 'add to basket' but I haven't fully decided whether or not I want to buy it.

I watch bin items for a number of different reasons. At Christmas I use it almost like a virtual shopping list. I'll watch a few items whilst I decide whether I want to buy it for a present. I'll do price checks to see if I can get it any cheaper or if I'm buying stuff for making things, I'll watch a couple of items to see if I can find things to go with colour schemes, themes etc

More hapless ebay sellers watching yours, while preying for that elusive buyer.

Don't forget that the BIN price isn't set in stone.... If you see something that's priced a bit high for you but is exactly what you are looking for then there is always the chance that the seller will drop the price at some point perhaps to price match a new listing from a competitor or something.

I have lots of bin sales, a lot of people wait until it's finished then offer you money outside of the sale, they may be looking for a nervous seller who drops the price if they have had no interest.for example selling at £ 150. Will you take £40 for it..
