old centile charts?

I've lost dd's red book which im annoyed about as it has lots of little notes in about her development and nice notes from the hv :) Im hoping it will turn up eventually but in the meantime im looking for the older centile charts online. I know they are a bit different to current ones as she was born in 2002.
Dd has always been small and I've kept my eye on it by checking her height now and then but now cant tell where she is on the chart, im sure shes small rather than any other problem but id rather be sure, especially after we saw her classmates in town and I was a bit gobsmacked at how much taller they were to her  All of the ones who I see are taller too but I suppose thats just a small selection of kids thats why the charts can give me an idea of her progress and hopefully put my mind at rest :)
( not that being short is a problem in itself, the best things come in small packages lol)
Any ideas where I can find a copy online at all please?

  • The older ones were based on the weights of artificially-fed babies whereas the post 2005-ish ones were based on breastfed babies' weights, i.e. normal growth for humans.
How does your DD measure up on the newer charts?

  • Shes just below the bottom red one (3rd percentile) on one and just above the 2nd percentile on another which looks like the current ones, but if shes in around the same area as last time (in the area above the shaded red centiles in the old charts) then I know shes doing ok.

I teach year 4 and the difference in size and height between the kids across the year group is amazing. They all grow at their own pace. You could ask a nurse at your gp practice for their advice on your dds height and development, if you are concerned about her. They may also know how to find a copy of the old charts.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.
  • Are you and her father small?

Remember too that the centiles go from 3 to 99%, or something, it's not 0-100% i.e. there will always be outliers, children who are smaller or bigger than the majority. If your daughter has always been small and continues to be small I shouldn't worry too much; you can check with the nurses as marisco says.

My DD has always been low on the weight chart but middlish on the height, making her longish and thin! It's when they move across the chart you take notice, if they lose or gain a lot of weight.

  • Perfect :D thank you! Dd's been inbetween the same two centiles as shes been for a few years so thats the main thing :) , shes very very slowly dropping centiles but presuming a growth spurt sooner or later when puberty hits should sort that out, after all not eveyrone will follow the same growth pattern,
ill mention it next time shes at the docs, I have done in the past in passing but they dont seem concerned so maybe im just paranoid lol!

Please don't worry - I was near the local secondary school at kicking out time and I was gobsmacked at how little the children are! I really was wondering how they see above the desk!

Your child's height will be roughly your height + OH's height /2

and the height at age 3 is roughly 1/2 the height at full adulthood.

So my DD will be 6' :rotfl:

she is a tall gel ;)

My daughter is on the 0.4th centile according to that chart!

She is a good head shorter than her friends.

  • My DD was bumping along the bottom of every chart going for years.
Underweight, short, bad eyes and hearing according to all the ongoing health checks. We were always being had in to the doctors or school for some failure on a graph or other target missed.

However she is now a strapping lass of 25 around 5'8 and can appear to see and hear anything she wants to. Managed to get through school get a degree and a job. She just did things in her time not when the graphs said was optimum.

I'm pretty certain the age is 2, not 3.

I'm very short and so is my husband (5"2 and 5"6) and our son is 82cm @ 25 months. If I double that he'll be 164cm @ adulthood which is about 5"5ish? Sounds about right.

He's certainly not going to be a basketball player :rotfl:
