Can anyone help? My Dad has a contract with O2, which he is quite happy with - but it's been about 18 months since he upgraded his phone. When he contacted O2 about upgrading they told him the available phones and said he would have to pay to upgrade to them. The one he wants is about £80. The thing is, if he cancelled his contract and took out a new contract with O2 the very same day he could get the phone for free
Is there any way around this? It seems stupid paying £80 when he could take out a new contract and would only need to text a few people the new number!!
Any advice would be appreciated.

What he can do is tell O2 exactly what you said above, he has seen the phone he wants for free and just say fi they cant match it then he will cancel the contract and take out the new contract, if O2 are offering the deal your dad wants then they are more than likely going to offer the same deal, if not then have a look round for a deal with other networks, if they have the same and O2 dont budge, then ask O2 for the pac code (either way yuo will have to give 30 days notice to cancel) and if he does go to another network he can keep the same phone number he has now.0

Thanks very much!! Will try that. It seems silly to pay the money when he could fill in a few forms online (or get his slave of a daughter to do it for him!! lol) and text a few people his new number. Thanks!
