I thought it was also illegal to have number plates that can't be read?

I thought it was as well ?.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Perhaps it is ... but how can a CEO enforce an order against such a vehicle if they can't see the registration mark? Especially as they are not allowed to touch the vehicle or disturb it in any way (other than to affix a penalty charge), so can't move anything obscuring the plates. ;)

Note: the tax disc would also need to be obscured, as the reg mark is on there too. ;)

it woulldnt of been lifted for no tax the same day.. it would of been clamped by DVLA first then you get iirc 7 days to tax it or its gone..
council iirc can ticket it then organise removal straight away if its blocking the highway/disabled parking spot
not sure on the permit situation as im sure its just a ticket...

    Hi All

Many thanks for your time and comments,

I have come to this thread to get some advice And you've been given the correct advice so far as to who can I approach to start a case against the delivery company Waste of time, they've done nothing wrong as they should not be allowed to dump the cars in front of the buyers house with no tax no permit without even informing them.

To answer a few ambiguities :

    1) The council took it within a few hours of when it was delivered could be that it was residential parking and no tax..... and I have the council receipt to prove it ..... £265 Did you make the delivery company know of any special conditions to parking in the area

    2) The delivery transport department did not inform me that the car is coming on that day....which is why I feel that the service I paid for was not completed as there was no hand over (hence I want the refund for the service paid)... and their ignorance of the fact that they are parking in a residential parking area with no permit no tax and no handover By all accounts you asked for delivery "ASAP", it was your responsibility to be available for delivery, you weren't nor did you make any arrangements to be contactable.

3)The car was parked in a residential parking outside my house even though there was a 2 hour free parking available 20 yards away from my house. Not the delivery driver's job to go searching around for available parking, you asked for it to be delivered at your address and it was, end of
Please read my comments in red.

If I was a traffic warden I'd just remove the card board. I can't see why I'd not be allowed to do that. It's not breaking any law.

That's just it - as far as I recall they are NOT ALLOWED to touch the vehicle to aid identification. If they were observed doing so then any PCN issued would be invalid.

(I'm sure others will be able to locate the specific rules/legislation that mentions this - I don't have time just now to do so).

Was the car parked in an off-road residents-only car parking area, or an on-street residents-only parking area?
