    how are you Rosie?
  • I've been so busy that I never had time to post my November total or to jump on board for December, but I've been participating all the same. Financially I have Christmas covered by the skin of my teeth and can even sit here now knowing that I have a little left over. This is the first month since I started this in October that I have made more than the £150 I tentatively aim for, and so my grand total over the three months has 'only' been just shy of £400.

There are two reasons I'm posting in December's thread despite not having posted a commitment this month. Firstly, to point out the obvious - since funding Christmas really was a 'skin of my teeth' thing, it's abundantly clear that Christmas just would not have happened in this house without that £400 or the £10/m threads and everyone who has posted on them.

Every bright idea or spot of encouragement or inspiration has been appreciated, right down to the last penny that has been reported from the Q that is Mee :) Merry Christmas to each and every one of you from me and mine - I know our Christmas will be a bright one because of you.

Secondly, I wanted to demonstrate to anyone lurking who pales at the prospect of squeezing an extra £300 out of every month that it's well worth pitching in, even if you aim for a lesser figure thinking that you can't possibly meet that one either. Those little pennies will all add up even if you don't hit your target, and the list of resources you can draw on will grow a little each month too, as you get used to making more and more things like survey sites, eBaying or the Asda Price Guarantee thingy a part of your day.

Here's to a very prosperous 2014 for all of us

£30 extra from a job I did today and £4 egg sales :D

Had a lot of problems with stepson in the last couple of weeks so I took all and I mean everyone of his presents to the Salvation Army today for their gift appeal :( So Christmas I doubt will be that jolly in this house this year :D Oh well always another one next year :D
And I am very glad that someone who needs them for whatever reason will get a better Christmas this year.

    Hi All,

I didn't sign up to the Dec challenge as everything went a bit maniac but I have read EVERY post. Just could not get everything together to log everything. Will be back for the Jan challenge as like others have posted this will be a lean month having been paid early in Dec

Mavvymoo I am seriously impressed that you had the inner strength to donate all of your stepsons gifts to the Sally Army. I suspect many of us have felt like doing something similar at times but not been brave enough to carry it through. I'm sure (or hope) that this makes him think twice about his actions. From experience I know that you have to be strong and stick to your promises or threats otherwise they have no respect for you. My stepson once asked me why I wasn't like other stepmothers who try to buy the child off. I told him he is treated exactly as my own daughter was and if he didn't like it that was tough. I have rules and I explain why I have the rule if you break it I carry out the punishment. One year all the Christmas sweets were removed after fair warning. It never happened again :rotfl: He is now 19 and we get on great and have mutual respect.:D

Merry Christmas and see you all in January.
