How to make sushi at home, a few links for you.......

Some of the sites listed above also sell supplies for Japanese food and sushi. Here's another link:
http://www.japancentre.com/
Or if you are near an asian foodstore such as wing yip, that's the best place to start for supplies.
If you'd like to start small, Tesco stock a selection of japanese bits and bobs for sushi and a few others like miso soup, beware though, the packets are smaller and a lot more expensive than authentic asian stores.
If I can help any more, just ask0 -

I've recently started making bento, with possibly the most OS bento box I could find - a lock & lock bento! I've been taking packed lunches to work for ages, but I was getting in a bit of a couscous salad rut, and I wanted to liven things up a bit. I found brown sushi rice at the Japan Centre, and have been having plain rice with smoked fish, tofu or chicken, a veggie side, and some fruit or a slice of hm brownie. It's making me think a bit more creatively about my working lunches, and I think having the portion controlled boxes is a good thing. Plus lots of lunch-envy from my colleagues ;-)
I've been using recipes from https://www.justbento.com and lunchinabox.net, but does anyone else have any tips on good bento blogs for recipes and inspiration?2015 comp wins - £370.25

I have a huge blog roll. I think I have all the bento blogs that exist!!!
I devour them as I have an obsessive nature and this one has replaced a less healthy habit
1l seems a little bit large actually Liz, I'm not the biggest expert but these articles should help you out:

I was a bit surprised to see it's a 1l box, but as I'm using it with the three containers in, I checked their volume and they're 250ml each, so that's 750ml. One I usually fill with brown rice, then one holds veggies, and one holds a 100g portion of protein - this usually doesn't fill the tub completely, so I can fit in a container of pickles or some sauce. Does this sound about right? At the moment I'm trying to get in the hang of bulk cooking and making some staples at the weekend, but then the OH unexpectedly takes some for his lunch and I realise I need to do more! What bento staples are good for pre-preparing?2015 comp wins - £370.25

Rice is a good staple to have in the freezer. I usually have leftovers in there too. Hmm, actually need to go look as I tend to work on a what I might like for lunch the next day basis. I don't plan like a lot of other bento-ers do!23rdspiral wrote: »hey, i'm still going, but my desk days are less just recently so less of a chance to take bento. this will change again i know.
