Littlewoods and DSR

Options
I ordered some headphones from Littlewoods. Before they'd arrived, I got the same item cheaper from elsewhere so knew I'd be sending them back.

They are completely untouched and sealed in their original packaging. The only part of the parcel I opened was the external box, but still Littlewoods tried to refuse me the right to return them. It took three firm quotes of the DSR and the intervention of the manager before they finally, begrudgingly, allowed me to return them. Courier is coming on Monday.

I have taken photos of the headphones, in their shrink wrapped original packing, and have e-mailed to confirm my intentions. Very glad I know the DSR and was able to firmly stand my ground.

I suspect the courier won't come. A courier is not a god given right before you say anything. I know of how they work.

If you have access to a printer you'll get a refund quicker by returning via the collect plus network.

How were you trying to return 1 - Item Unsuitable or 3 - Faulty

as either would allow a return with the dsr period.

If the courier doesn't come I'll use Collect+. I have some time to play with.

    Returning the item as unsuitable.

I thought returns had to be done using collect+ or royalmail, rather than them arranging a courier?

You can arrange a courier but a catalogue collection request at Yodel is down there with delivering parcels. So if the courier cba or runs out of time no catalogue collections

You'll start seeing failed Yodel requests this month.

When I worked at SDG I was telling people to go via collect plus or royal mail.

Used to annoy me when a customer said Ill take your payment to the post office. but want a courier for the return of a light ite,

You can expect failed Yodel requests each and every week of the year

Yodel turned up as arranged and have collected the parcel. Looks like the courier CBA, after all :) You should be a little less pessimistic, Simon.
  • Final update - the parcel arrived safe and sound and Littlewoods have refunded me.

I've noticed that Littlewoods, Very (all the same group) seem to think their refund policy is ABOVE the DSR.

    As do next, Debenhams etc.

Its actually rarer to find a retailer who 100% complies with DSRs
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

If you read the terms, they tell you that you pay for return postage equal to the delivery charge

So how are they breaking the DSRs
