Joking aside, the deletion of all his pledges whilst in opposition is an absolute scandal and I genuinely can't believe more hasn't been made of it. Of course the Tories have claimed it was all an unfortunate accident

If you can fix now till 2015 at 3.7 kwhr for gas when most are well over the 4 mark ( direct debit ) it makes sense because I can never see the prices coming down.
It will be interesting to see what the government have got lined up with taking some of the green tax into general taxation. Onto what tax ?, and who pays ? Will it be like the poll tax and get the general public up in arms0 -
True but not as bad as lying to the country about the Iraqi threat to persuade us to join in GWBushes war.MillicentBystander wrote: »Joking aside, the deletion of all his pledges whilst in opposition is an absolute scandal and I genuinely can't believe more hasn't been made of it. You can be sure it won't be a tax you have to pay directly - like the poll tax, because voters would realize how much tax they are paying :mad:sacsquacco wrote: »It will be interesting to see what the government have got lined up with taking some of the green tax into general taxation. They prefer to put it on the price of motoring - Britain has the highest car parking charges in the world, or on the price of goods we buy - Britain has the highest tax on lorries in Europe (ask yourself who is ultimately paying for that) or their current favorite just crank up the printing presses - Inflation is the stealthiest stealth tax of all. When the Euro was introduced in 1999 you got 1.6 Euros to the pound. Now its less than 1.2. So they have quietly taken 25% off us. Imagine the outcry if they had introduced a 25% poll tax.......“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -

:rotfl: How much credibility do you give to someone who devises a scheme that inflates house prices, and then calls it 'Help to Buy' :rotfl:
so they say, trying to get the real margin is next to impossible
That 5% even if it is true, is only the profit from selling to us, they also make a profit when they produce the electric/gas and then sell it to themselves at a high price, which also makes them a profit, that markup is not included in the 5%, so sorry I just don't accept the 5%
Heck if it was only 5% profit, why would they invest billions, putting it in a bank or bonds, shares etc would get them at least 5% return.0 -
Simple answer is they haven't - been investing enough in new power stations. When current power stations are worn out there won't be enough capacity to keep the lights on at peak times.Heck if it was only 5% profit, why would they invest billions,“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -
The main reason for our high energy prices is the Government's Green initiatives. Not only is wind and solar power far more expensive, its unreliable. So you have to keep conventional plant fired up ready to go in case the wind drops.
But at least Cameron's father in law gets £370,000 a year rent for having 7 wind turbines on his land. So he 'earns' over £1,000 every day before he gets out of bed in the morning

Mostly because the useless Ecomentalists in the Government have blocked any sensible energy policy that dared to include nuclear coal or shale gas preferring to subsidize useless intermittent inefficient windmills. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Nor can you look at NeoLabour website either, to see what Gordon Brown and Tony Blair said. The guy that bankrupted the country and the guy that took us into two wars that we didn't want.
Also, let's not forget, it was the shadow Prime Minister, that as Energy Secretary, foisted these green taxes upon us and sent our bills sky high.0
