Wireless headphones

My husband has asked for a pair of wireless headphones for Christmas and I'm at a total loss over which to buy! I'd have thought the sound quality on wireless headphones wouldn't be as good as wired, but he says he keeps getting the cable of his current cheap pair stuck under the wheels of his chair at work. He wants them for listening to music whilst sat at his desk, not for use when travelling or anything, but he says he'd like a noise cancelling pair if possible because his office can be quite noisy. From what I've read, he'd need around-ear, as the reviews seem to suggest they're the most comfortable for long-term use.
I've been looking at various Sennheiser and Sony pairs but I've yet to see anything for less than £170 with decent reviews, although I'm aware there will always be someone wanting to complain!
Is it possible to get good wireless headphones for less than this? ideally with enough battery to last a day without needing to be charged? Or should I give up and focus on a decent pair of wired headphones instead?
Hoping someone can help, and thanks in advance!

There's dozens on eBay - search "wireless headphones noise cancelling", but I wouldn't know which to recommend.
And does he want headphones or the in ear-type?
You might need to ask him what he will be using them with - some of the ones listed are Bluetooth and might not work with whatever he's got.0 -
What device will he be listening to music from.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

He definitely wants headphones, not earphones, that much I'm sure of. In terms of what he'll be using them with, he's just plugging them into his work pc as far as I'm aware, so I wouldn't have thought Bluetooth was necessary?0

So the headphones will stay at work permanently then. Just as most wireless headphone, use 2 components, the headphones and a device that plugs into the headphone jack and then into the mains.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0

Yes they'll probably stay at work permanently, I haven't seen his current pair since he took them to work 2 years ago.0

Guess for that price range, wireless and noise cancelling is hard to find. But the sennheiser RS 180 are good a pair. The batteries do need changing for longer usage, higher mah battery.
Never going to get the same quality as wired headphones. So i guess it all depends on how much your hubby likes the quality of sound.
Does he stream the music offline, if so and they have wifi, then a smart phone with appropriate app and a decent pair of wired headphonesMansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
I have some Philips that I bought five years ago, no problems at all.
Best thing I ever bought, I listen to the telly on a night when everyone is in bed and I disturb no one.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
To be honest, I think noise-cancelling is more of a 'would like if possible' rather than a 'need' as he's currently using a cheap pair designed for Skype (complete with microphone!) since his last ones broke without warning, and they definitely aren't noise-cancelling.
I was looking at the Sennheiser RS 180s, but the reviews seem to say that they are prone to a fault where they won't charge, and there's a design flaw whereby the volume buttons are next to the on/off buttons on the headphones. But I suppose this could just be a few people finding fault, rather than an overall bad product.
He generally uses spotify on his pc, as I'm not sure that the office has wi-fi that he could use with his phone, but thanks for the suggestion.
ETA: McKneff do you know which Philips you bought? I've not really seen many during my searches, but I'm open to any option that might work!0 -
Probably get something with closed over ear?
Panasonic RP-HC700 seems fit your requirement. But I can't comment on sound quality
