How to use Google Play store on Android phone?
I have a new mobile smartphone, Xperia E, which has Sony's own "desktop" installed. This is new to me and I am still learning what it does. I want to download a couple of apps and it seems I have to do this via Google Playstore which has replaced Android Market. I click on the icon and it asks me if I want to use my existing Google account or a create new one, so I chose existing.
It then looks for a wifi, finds my home wifi router (strong signal)and prompts me for the password. I enter this and it then tries to authenticate for several minutes before stopping and reporting authentication problem and failing. There is no error diagnosis beyond this and it is not covered in the user guide. Just says go to Playstore to download apps...
The wifi works fine with every other device in the house and for friends when they visit, anyone got any ideas on what the problem is.

Goto the phones settings and setup the wifi connection there 1st. Inputted the wrong security key maybe?
you used an 0 instead of an O maybe?
Did you login to your google or gmail account?
You can login on a desktop and install apps from there also. You dont need to do it on the device itself.
I login to my daughters account and sneakily install silly apps and games.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Try logging into your gmail/googlemail account via a pc to ensure you have the correct password and that you can actually get into the account.0

First you need to connect to the internet so check your settings are correct.
Then you need to be logged in to your google account, assuming you have one.
