Unable to factory restore Toshiba netbook

I have a Toshiba NB200 netbook which I am trying to factory restore. When I press 0 and turn it on, it stays on the splash screen and doesn't progress even after holding it for approx 2 mins. When I let go it boots up normally.

Any suggestions?

  • If no go....you have a recovery image.

You need a USB flash drive of 4GB or more.

You need Rufus and a guide

    Drivers

    Full model number?

Thanks for the reply. I found that F8 would let me access factory restoring and it is just finishing that.

How do I know which Toshiba bloat I can uninstall? There are things like Wireless Manager and a load of other stuff IIRC.
  • You probably don't need any of it. But disable them from starting with Windows, as you did before, with CCleaner in the first instance.

    Thanks.

A Toshiba programme has already asked me if I want to run it to check for updates. I take it I don't need that to tell me?

I also remember getting a BIOS update from the Tempro utility. Can I get that elsewhere and if so, where?

Forgot to mention the model number which is NB200-12N PLL23E-00500DEN

I shall install the drivers once I have installed my programmes. Currently running the Macafee Removal Tool. I think I will let the Windows Updates download overnight.

I used Globe Visibility to connect a ZTE MF627 mobile BB dongle, but it appears it is no longer available.

Do you have any suggestions for an alternative?

What is your suggestion for installing Windows Updates? I have always used "Ask me before downloading and installing". I am thinking about changing that to "Download, but ask me before installing".

I don't want it automatically installing things I don't want like the Bing Desktop, etc.
