Thomas Cook Hell

If this is in the wrong thread part, I do apologise.

I booked a holiday with 5 others in january to go to zante in greece.

We asked for all inclusive food, flights, and trips out. Which the thomas cook branch promised us.

The others dont seem to mind about the following money lost but i do.
/
I paid £600 in total for this holiday,

we went in january

When we got there, we had to all shell out £170 each for trips, and the food in the hotel, was filled with flies and undercooked food etc....so we ended up eating elsewhere for the week

Thomas cook dont seem to care about the money, so i have filled a case with the mcol, stating the facts,

on the 27/11/13, they have filed an acknowledgement of service, does that mean from the 27th they have another 14 days?

It means they have a total of 28 days from service of the proceedings rather than 14 to file their Defence
  • What was in the contract you had with Thomas Cook?

Were the various trips you thought you were getting itemised?

I think it needs to be shown that there was misrepresentation in the booking, that a Thomas Cook rep was told about food not satisfactory etc.

Trips or excursions are very rarely included in a package holiday / all inclusive holiday so I'm not sure why you believed or were led to believe that they were. Did you specify any trips when you booked or recieve any tickets for them?
Did you complain to the rep as the above poster has mentioned?
Was £600 for one week or two? At £600 there's a high chance that the flight section alone would have been around £200 with say £20 going towards transfers and £30 going towards insurance so only £350 towards the hotel. If that was for a week then it's a reasonable amount to pay but if it was two weeks then what would you expect from the All Inc when you only pay £25 a day for it?

No matter what I'd paid I wouldn't expect to find insects in my food :)

No I agree I wouldn't expect to find insects in it either, and that is totally unacceptable. But were they insects or flies? The odd fly would be expected in June in Greece, not nice but not out of the ordinary. If it was insects then that is a different matter. The price issue I meant more for the standard of food as the original poster said that it wasn't edible. What one person likes, another may not so it's always a personal choice and could have just been that they did not like the food so now class it as inedible.
I think cheap all inclusives are often a false economy and unless you pay a good premium for it you will never get much, far better to get out and about and spend money in the local community on decent food and drink. But again that's my personal choice / opinion.
