Does anyone use a pie making machine?

Thanks for the link, I've just ordered one as a stocking filler for my husband, although not sure it'll fit in his stocking :rotfl: He loves pies but I rarely make them because they are so fattening, but I'll do him an IOU for lots of home made pastry and he can make his own little pies to his heart's content with all the whoopsie meat he keeps bringing home from the supermarket.0

So, after much deliberation I decided to purchase this pie maker. I arrived this afternoon and haven't managed to make any pies yet but am hoping to make a large supply on Saturday.
It does look like the pies will be really deep and am going off for an interweb search for lovely pie ingredients.

ooooh sits and waits for moments_of_sanitys review
i looked at all the others and most said they made shallow small pies with more pastry than filling, so was looking for a deep one0 -

Here is my update guys (with lots of pictures!)
Firstly I made the pastry from the Trex website, although it says in the instructions on the pie maker to use standard pastry for the bottom and puff for the top (I cba'd so used standard pastry). I made up the pie filling in the pressure cooker and added 2 carrots, 2 onions, 350grams of braising steak and 2 stock cubes.
DD and I found the pastry base cutter makes a very large base and it can prove tricky to get in the mould before you add the filling but on the second batch we used the pie filling to move the pastry down. The instructions say to 'throw' the first pies away in case anything has been left on the non stick moulds........I wasn't wasting good pie filling so we made up the pastry base and top and left the pie filling out. We then threw the pie outers away once they were cooked.
The pies come out beautiful, really well cooked and really tasty, I will definitely be using this time and time again. I have attached so e pictures to give you an idea of the size of the pies but they are roughly the size (maybe a little smaller, but not a lot) than a pukka pie. The ingredients will easily stretch to 8 pies making them very cost effective! I have listed below the items and how much they cost, obviously I haven't taken the price of the pie maker into account as this would prove quite difficult......

Braising steak, 350 grams £2.60
2 carrots, 8p
2 onions, 12p
2 stock cubes, 20p
170grams Trex, 21p
450grams of flour 13.5p
£3.35 total cost
We made 4 pies, with enough filling left over for a further 4 pies. This made each pie 37p for the filling and 5.75p for the pastry (don't forget we had to throw 2 pie casings away). So £0.43p per pie :j
If you look at the above photos and scroll through the flickr photos, you will see more of the pie making experience this evening.
I hope this is a useful review and will give you some idea of how big the pies are.0 -
The photos are great. I can see many more people rushing to buy the pie maker now!0

Yes we have that one from Coopers. Bought for hubby who says it is great - its for two pies but he sometimes does just one - nice and deep with plenty of filling.
Savoury ones come out super - though he did do a mincemeat (sweet) one but he said it was just too much filling for him.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0 -
Update: We have just tried out the pie maker and for the first attempt we only cooked one pie, with bought ready-rolled pastry and leftover turkey, stuffing and gravy for filling. It was a great success and we have now put in another four for lunch
I think the little pies are probably easier to cook properly than the larger type as it might be hard to get the filling to heat through without burning the top of the pastry.0 -
Wish I'd known about these deep fill ones ( 4.5cm depth) before buying the Lakeland one, it's good, but can only take a couple of spoonfuls of filling as it's only 2.5 cm deep. XSlimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
