Travelodge - No luggage storage

I recently stayed in a Travelodge, when i checked out I asked to leave my luggage in reception and collect it later. I was told this was not possible "due to senior management staying that night".

As I couldn't be bothered lugging my luggage around London all day I just got an earlier train home. As a result I missed seeing the changing of the Guard at Buck Palace

I thought every hotel had a luggage storage area, but it seems that Travelodge do not. Imho it's a poor show.

Its a budget hotel chain, why did you expect them to look after your luggage after you had checked out?

I've stayed with Travelodge many times and after checking out, rather than lug my suitcase round all day or go home early, I have left it in the left luggage facilities at the nearest train or bus station.

Their policy is not to store luggage, as on their website: "Is there anywhere I can leave my luggage? We regret to tell you that we have no storage rooms in any of our hotels."

So not every hotel has a luggage storage area, and not really a poor show as this one even specifies it on their website so you could have known in advance.

I've stayed in a lot of hotels/ hostels. it's the first time I've found that I couldn't leave luggage at reception.

I thought if I can leave luggage in an Indian hotel that charges £3 a night I would be able to leave luggage with a hotel that charged me £100 a night.

I went to London a few weeks ago and although I stayed in a hotel that was able to keep my luggage, the time involved going back there to collect it from the centre of London (plus one very packed bus to get there and two to get back to the station) was quite considerable.

I've just checked out the cost of storing luggage at stations in London and the cost of that is £9 an item per 24 hours. Might be worth considering.

I know it's of little consolation now but for future reference you can store luggage at Kings Cross Station for a small fee.

You paid £100 for a Travelodge room???? :eek:

I don't think I've ever paid more than £30 a night. I'm sure Premier Inn or Holiday Inn would have been far cheaper and slightly more luxurious too.

If you've been to India , you'll know that's a ridiculous comparison , it being all about how much the local economy needs your patronage.

I`ve stayed in dearer hotels than Travelodge that don`t store luggage

From the OP it sounds like if the senior management had not been there then they may have stored the luggage for them. Maybe they do not have any insurance and, should it or any part of it go missing the hotel would take no responsibility.

Ditto.

If they do not have a secure luggage facility and it the luggage had been stolen.
They would have probably got the sack as they are not allowed to store it.

Though it would be good if they told you were the nearest e.g. station that can store luggage is as your unlikely to have been the first person to ask.

ehhhh? like it or not, being able to store luggage at hotel receptions is a fairly standard service offered by most hotels.

I posted this thread as a warning that Travelodge don't offer this service...... imho expecting guests to check out and then carry their luggage to the nearest rail station and pay £9 an item to leave each item at the left luggage area is fairly p1sh. after all, not all travelodges have a nearby train station with a luggage storage area.
