Hi All!

This is copy of post on Credit Card Thread

Not read thriough all the info yet, but just had long awaited literature from Citi, who will be operating the Shell Credi Card from July.

Briefly...

3% cashback on Shell fuel purchases (max £5000 per year)
1% on other purchases

extended warranty on DOMESTIC appliances - not sure if it's just washing machines etc, or tv's & cameras)

price drop refund - if what you buy gets cheaper, for shrot period after purchase.

So looks an OK card, if you settle bill every month - certainly better than previous reward of Shellpoints.

Don't like the 0870 number for contact so 0800 130035 is from www.saynoto0870.com

extended warranty is on electrical items only
also the card features free travel insurance, yup def better than previous and free motor legal protection and discounts on car insurance (no hard details on latter)

bit miffed that price protection only covers above £25 though :(
  • My card was refused because there is a restriction on the number of times you can use it in a day. The figure is 12 and it happened to me on a day which we had spent Christmas shopping. I am sure it is in the small print but it was not drawn to my attention when I applied for it. It does seem to be a silly and aggravating rule which has nothing to do with the value of the transactions.

I am going back to my original credit card as a result.

If you use Egg credit card, you can get 2% instant cash back on Shell pumps!
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.
  • Its one of the better credit cards out there if you pay your balance off in full.

There are two minor limitations though:

    1. If you don't fill up from a Shell station in over 6 months you will lose all the cashback you have earned.
    2. The card provides 'travel accident insurance' not 'travel insurance'. These are two different insurances.

In addition to good points above:
    1. You can use the Shell credit card AND collect Shell Drivers Club card points (replacement of the Shell pluspoints card).
    2. As a FREE option you can get alerts (email or mobile) on your account balance, payment due reminders, credit limit nr max reminders, transactions over £500, internet transactions over £200 and any oversea transactions.

Had no problems with customer services from Citi (card provider).
  • Trawling up an old thread here!

They are currently offering 6p/litre cashback for the first 60 days.
    .....

  • i usee it and its great
  • I was offered the leaflet for this credit card at a Shell station yesterday.

However, the 3% and 6% Cashbacks ONLY apply to fuel being
retailed at minimum pump price of £1.00 per litre.

Has this proviso been changed since 18-12-08?

    Frank.
