Do you always lose toilet facilites on a bathroom refurb?

Options
Just wondered , one plumber who has quoted our bathroom rip out and refurb says he will leave us the toilet each night , and another has said we will need a chemical toilet or portaloo for a few days?

Is it just dependant on how each person works?

Thanks

Just had a full bathroom refurb.

I had use of a properly flushing toilet every day. I think it helped that apart from a couple of days, I was out at work. When I came home each day, the toilet was working normally.

I did have to be careful after the new one was put in as I was having a tiled floor, so it wasn't completely fixed in place until the last day.

I did lose use of the bath for a few days though.

It's quite easy for a plumber to re-fit the bog plumbing each night, even if it used flexible hoses to connect. Only real problem would be if there's major rearrangement of external waste pipes. Oh, and as mentioned, it may well not be screwed down. so no high-pressure Vindaloos would be a suggestion.

It may show a plumber who is considerate of your... essential needs! Which might extend to other, longer-term matters. Chemical bogs are no fun, buckets are .... worse!

First DIY bathroom I did, I spent a week carting a corner bath out each morning, doing "stuff", then replumbing it in late at night. Given it was a small bathroom, that was fun. Essential, as my wife was a vet, and she sometimes NEEDED a bath! Mind you, thirty years later, and this house just had a bath plumbed in the corner of a bedroom for a month while we re-did the bathrooms. Progress? Pah!

Really, it just comes down to how various plumbers work. But, it would influence my choice.

Unless you are having the wastepipe and water feeds moved, then I can't understand why they can't reinstate the toilet each day before they finish.

If not, it's relatively simple to do yourself.

Failing that, I think Asda have a duckie potty on offer at the moment ;)

I had my bathroom re-done earlier this year. No plumbing alterations were needed for the loo. The fitter just re-connected the old one every evening via a flexi hose. I wouldn't want to go a week without a proper toilet.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

As long as the pan can be pushed onto the pan connector there is no problem. It is easy enough to flush the pan with a bucket of water.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I think it`s obvious that the builder who has quoted , and told me he doesntg do the plumbing side of things , is obviously just using a plumber when it suits him , rather than the customer , hence no toilet comment

    I think i`ll go with a plumber

    thanks all
