Another thought just occurred to me.
easyJet have a handy policy. If you're early for your flight, and you're on the return portion of a return ticket, they'll let you standby on an earlier flight for free. BA don't do this.
It's a small thing, but you might find it very useful if you're trying to get away on a Friday evening. Book a flight you'll comfortably make, but if you can get the the airport earlier, you get home quicker.
