Hi,

If I were to separate from my husband could anyone advise what I would have to pay towards the house? I want to rent a house but not sure if I can afford it whilst paying for the current house. :(

    You've not given enough information. Are there children involved? How much is left on what kind of mortgage?

    Is the mortgage in joint names?
    Would husband want to stay in the house?

    Supposing its straight forward, when you divorce the person staying in the house would re mortgage the house on their own, and pay the other person half the equity (unless there is a deed of trust or other financial arrangement on the house) so if you left hubby would buy your share.

    Or the house is sold and proceeds split between both parties.
