Finances and separation

Last night I came to a sad realisation. I was having an asthma attack and subsequently a panic attack my husband went back to bed because he was cold. At the end of a very tough year, I realised we may have to separate as I don't know how to make him realise I need him to help me out a bit more.

Anyway, as this is in danger of becoming a heartfelt outpouring - I'm terrified re finances. I am paying everything I can back to get rid of my huge debts and don't think I can afford to get a place on my own in the mean time. I can't stay here and my family are kind but not practically supportive.

Can anyone give me some practical advice re separation. We have been married for 4 years, have no children and have a mortgage, unfortunately from the days of Northern Rock's 110%.
