Clear Up, Clean Up and Take Control!!!
"Tis the season to be jolly fa la la la laaaaaa la la la laaaaaaa.."
So 2013 is closing to an end! How has this year been for you? For me December is the time to make plans, to start as I mean to go on and avoid the traditional failings of January's "resolution" hell! The year ahead has to be clear in my head, what I want and how I will go about it ensures I usually get what I want.
I started these Challenges over a year ago and on Monday 2nd December after one last payment I will be debt free. I am not shouting about it just yet (cause there will be a separate thread for that) but it's an inkling of what can be achieved if YOU decide you want things to change in your life!
It's time to clear up those niggling feelings of fear and face your debts, get out those envelopes that have been shoved into drawers, clean up the loose ends and call your CC companies and know where you are at and what you owe. Take control of our life!
It's so important that you do this for yourself and do it now. Christmas is a very expensive time of year and what better time and place to start pulling things together than with us...we are a little group ( and growing) of people who are supporting each other to debt freedom.
There is no theme this month other than this ; You CAN do it!!
These are the rules to follow....
- This Challenge will commence on the 1st December at 00:00 and end on the 31st of December at 23:59.
- You will aim for 15 SFD's only. Any spend with any item will class as a spend day. Use them wisely.
- Food budgets will be set in stone. Christmas promotions are unavoidable but you don't need them all. You won't be feeding an army (hopefully). My budget is £100.
- “Spend” Money for anything else needs to be pre-agreed prior to the commencement of DDD. This includes last minute gifts, parties, food that’s to be taken to any party, and alcoholic drinks.
- All money needed for the month for food or spends is to be withdrawn and placed in envelopes clearly marked for purpose.
- Drop one Christmas outing/party whether with work or people you don't really like. Why waste your money? I am going to no work do's at all.
- £5 of your food budget will be spent on the local food bank. If you support other charities that's great but this £5 is for the food-bank only. Please try buying it yourself and take the kids with you otherwise donating on-line is okay! Look on line for what food banks need, don't just buy anything.
- Batch cook now, try to avoid massive tins of sweets, fancy biscuits in expensive tins and £7 cakes from M&S.
- Get a notebook. In it place 5 things you want to achieve by the end of 2014 - no matter what it is - use this to record all your spending - no matter what it is - it will remind you not to overspend and where our money really should be going - towards our debts!!!
- Choose a debt free date. It might change here and there but having a goal is the MOST important thing you could have on this journey.
- Spending will be kept to a minimum on things that are unnecessary items.. restaurants, caf!'s's, work canteens, Starbucks, Costa are all out of bounds.
- Lunch will be brought from home everyday. No exceptions.
- NO ENTRY to any sales in the month of DDD. Unless you have a planned budget and have been saving for a specific item PLEASE do not go to the Boxing Day Sales. Its temptation you can’t handle to buy tat you really don’t need. STAY AT HOME!!!
I can’t say this won’t be hard but the interaction between users has been encouraging and everyone will help you. So please, stop faffing about, take responsibility and give me your name!
PLEASE DO NOT RE-POST THIS ENTIRE THREAD. IF U WISH TO JOIN JUST ADD YOUR NANE TO A PAGE AND I'LL GET YOU A NUMBER. I DO NOT NEED TO KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT EACH POINT WITH THE POINT RE-ADDED AS WELL- IT TAKES UP TOO MUCH ROOM!!!
