My teenage son's iphone 3GS
Options
My son has an iphone 3GS which works fine, but yesterday he mentioned that he upgraded to IOS6 and the phone is not handling well.
Is it possible to downgrade to IOS5 or lower to put his handset back to acceptable working conditions?
I know it worked on my old Blackberry.

Unfortunately not as apple no longer sign earlier firmwares.0

I have a 3GS which is in regular use and it is generally fine.
I held off upgrading from IOS 4.3.5 as IOS 5.x seemed to be poor on the 3GS.
Because fewer and fewer apps supported IOS 4.3.5 I upgraded to IOS 6 and it is fine. A tiny bit laggy occasionally but quite OK.
One thing is keep 1GB of memory free (General > About). Mine has 6.2GB capacity 1.0GB available. If it gets much below 1 GB available I've had problems.
Delete apps, backup and restore, clear photos & compress the music (in iTunes convert music to 128kb/s AAC).0
