Estate Agent - can I reduce their fee due to poor performance?
The fees you pay should have been written in a contract. I have seen in some cases where you can modify the contract before signing it and agreeing that bad performance of the agent can reduce the overall fee. For example if a seller is not found in 'X' amounts of weeks then a percentage of the fee is reduced and so forth. This should be done before signing anything, once you signed then I guess you're beat.
My property was sold subject to contract in July before reaching the market.
So you essentially sold far more quickly than most, you didn't have to spend months keeping your house spick and span for viewings, and you feel that this is below par....?
I concur with at least one of the posters above - surely most of the work toward completion is in the solicitors' court, not the EAs.
