sounds like "Auto-hide the Taskbar" is ticked

In which case moving the cursor to the edge of the screen would reveal it wouldn't it, but since according to the Op it isn't ............ DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
There is a tick in "Lock the taskbar".
So have you tried unticking it and selecting 'Auto Hide the Taskbar'?
There's something about "Combine when taskbar is full"
and try setting this to 'Always combine, hide labels'... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
I've just done that, Oblivion, but nothings happened yet as a result. Shouldn't be necessary to reboot but no harm in trying.
Can't think of any other possibilities I'm afraid.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -

I've done both of those now, but still nothing. That seems to have done the trick, Gun Jack! I purposely left it idling for about 1/4 hr and it was fine when I came back!
I am thrilled to bits, so thank you ALL so very much for doing your very best, I really do appreciate your skills and time.
