Task Bar/System Tray vanishing

Hi,
I wonder if you can help me as my Task Bar/System Tray just keep on vanishing for, seemingly, no reason?
It's ok when I start up my laptop, but doesn't take long before it's just gone! Every time I reboot it's ok then, but never long before it does it again..and again etc.
I've done a scan with Norton, but it's not picked up anything. Any ideas?
Also, Adobe keeps trying to get me to have an update, but each time I attempt to a notice comes up saying it's not known if they're safe! Also, Norton doesn't come on as normal and say "Do you wish to let Adobe do anything to my PC?"
Is there something odd going on?
Many thank indeed.
Sue

If you put the mouse-pointer to the bottom of the screen, does the task-bar reappear?
If you're only using Adobe reader, I'd get shut and use something else. I use Foxit (free) and it's just as good as Adobe, doesn't use as much disk space/RAM:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Place cursor to bottom of screen so it reappears, then click n drag cursor back up the screen and it should stay visible.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Unless it's on auto-hide in which case it's right-click/properties and untick the relevant box.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

I'll be back if your ideas don't work, truthfully!

It's no good, lads, nothing happens when I place the cursor to bottom of screen.
If I right click do you mean go to Graphics Properties? If so, what do I click on then?
I do appreciate your help, but at present the blessed things goes almost as soon as I restart it, but especially when it's idling.
Perplexed..putting it mildly! PS. Have done a check with Norton and it says that Adobe Photoshop is a problem! Could that really be the case?

1.) What version of Windows are you running?
2.) Can you still see the Start button? If so, right clicking on that and selecting Properties will give you a tab for Taskbar where you can change its behaviour.
3.) Have you checked each edge of your screen with the mouse? The taskbar can be configured to be hidden at the bottom (usual default), top, right, or left of the screen, and may have moved itself due to a glitch.... What operating system are you on (Windows 7/Vista/XP)?

Sounds like your explorer.exe might be crashing. if you press the windows key on the keyboard, does the start menu appear?0

sounds like "Auto-hide the Taskbar" is ticked......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
1.) What version of Windows are you running?
I have Windows 7 and an HP Pavilion dm 4 laptop
2.) Can you still see the Start button? If so, right clicking on that and selecting Properties will give you a tab for Taskbar where you can change its behaviour.
Yes, the start button is still there. I've right clicked and gone to properties. There is a tick in "Lock the taskbar". The "Position" is at the bottom. There's something about "Combine when taskbar is full"
3.) Have you checked each edge of your screen with the mouse? The taskbar can be configured to be hidden at the bottom (usual default), top, right, or left of the screen, and may have moved itself due to a glitch.
I've checked each edge of your screen with the mouse, absolutely nothing.Sounds like your explorer.exe might be crashing. if you press the windows key on the keyboard, does the start menu appear?
Yes, when I press the windows key on the keyboard, it the start menu does appear.
I know I should be able to get to everything from there, but I use "Incredimail" and have no idea which part of that to select to use it!
Thanks again, lads, I so appreciate your help. What do I do from here?
