want a new supplier

Hi.

I'm currently with Vodafone who have introduced a non-DD payment fee. I pay my bill online, with my debit card every month, as I do most of my bills.

I have few DD on my account so as to avoid any late/bounced payments fees at the bank as my bank advised me when I got into trouble couple of years ago.

Anyway, I have no loyalty to Voda, so are there any providers out there who wont charge me for non-DD payment?

You could consider getting a sim only deal with someone like giffgaff who offer various monthly options providing bundles of minutes, texts and data where you purchase goodybags on a monthly basis. There is no direct debit involved as you pay with your debit card. They use the O2 network so you may need to unlock your phone.

You don't say what your usage is but if it's fairly low then you could consider Ovivo where you pay a one-off £20 and for that you get 150 minutes, 300 texts and 500m/b of data refreshed at no charge every month. The allowance may vary with promotions. They use the Vodaphone network so there is no issue with unlocking your phone.

Alternatively, 3 have a cheap payg deal where calls cost 3p per minute, texts are 2p and data is 1p per megabyte. You would need an unlocked 3G phone.

I believe all the big players charge for any payment mechanism other than DD for a monthly contract, as Neil suggest you probalby need to look at a PAYG solution
  • Hmmmmm as I suspected ... all the big players charge for non DD now. Its not much, I just resent having to pay it as I pay my bill on time each month!

Will look into SIM only, and PAYG

Monthly Sim only will be the same (I'm on Tesco Sim only now and was on Vodafone before both had non DD fee's).

Non DD cost more to process and theres a greater risk of non payment, hence the fee to ecourage you to use a DD.
