Help! A couple of weeks ago I got the infamous "Ibis bar" in my computer, and so far have not been able to get rid of it. They tell me I need to do it by hand and I am trying to get hold of an expert that does not charge the earth. In the meantime... Do you know if I can buy over the Internet without whoever is behind these awful Spyware tools getting to know all my cards details?
Thanks for your advice. If you have any as to how to get rid of Ibis, even more so!!!!

Firstly DON'T pay anyone anything to get rid of it!
Secondly try the free versions of Spyware removing programs such as:
Lavasoft Adaware: https://www.lavasoft.de
Spybot Search & Destroy: http://safer-networking.org/en/download/
See what happens and post back here.

Thanks! I have AdAware by Lavasoft and a friend sent me Spyremover. NOne of them can eliminate this Alien... I also downloaded Spyware DOctor, but as many others, they detect it and them want you to register (i.e., buy their product) I do not want to spend money unless I know I am going to solve the problem....
How about my security? Can I use my computer freely or should I abstain from buying?
Thanks again!0 -

we bought'webroot spy sweeper'.This is brilliant and fixed some serious problems on our pc.We were also worried that we would waste money on a product that wouldn't work but in the end we were prepared to'risk' £30.It is brilliant and has worked for us.I want money..........that's what I want !!:j0

Thanks a lot folks.... Foxy, I downloaded the MS tool, and it had a "validate" option, which I skipped because it seemed complicated (my Windows is original anyway). It took quite a lot of work but it seems to have done the job... however, yesterday I had got rid of the !!!!!! and it managed to install itself AGAIN! So I'm keeping on top of it... the thing is, there is a window that pops up (despite all my screens and firewalls) offering you to "simplify" your screen or something like that. That is the IBIS toolbar, and you can't do anything, except turn your computer off, because even if you click "NO" or the cross, it works....
Thanks indeed, again!0 -

According to Ibis, 'If at anytime you wish to remove the Service, you can remove it through the Add/Remove Programs menu in your Microsoft Windows control panel. To uninstall your Search Toolbar, please do the following: 1. Click on the Start button and select Settings and then Control Panel. If you are running Microsoft XP, you can go directly to the Control Panel from the Microsoft Windows Start button. 2. When the Control panel window opens, double-click on the Add/Remove Programs Icon. 3. When the Add/Remove Programs Properties window opens, locate the listing for 'Search Toolbar' that you would like to uninstall from the list of installed programs. 4. Click once on the program to be uninstalled and then click on the Add/Remove button and follow the instructions.' -- http://www.websearch.com/legal/Terms.aspx
