    I find it odd too....

Sorry - what are sticky threads? I'm confused!!

Lots of older advise say ignore but I gather that's not the case anymore

You'll find 'stickies' at the top of any forum's index page. They provide vital information, especially to new forum members about how things work. There are 8 stickies attached to this forum, but this is the crucial one for you at this early stage.

Make sure you read it, as the more you understand about how all this stuff works the easier you will find it to deal with your (son's) problem.

But just to reiterate two key points:

COMPLAIN now to the store - mention your son's circumstances and ask them (assertively) to get this ticket cancelled - they DO have the power, even though they may initially deny it - be persistent.

DO NOT ignore anything further you receive - ancient advice, there are far better and more reliable ways to deal with this. Make sure you keep all paperwork, especially envelopes if they carry a date stamp - dates are a very important part of the process.

Time to really 'bone up' on this stuff - it will pay off if your complaint doesn't.

sorry to say this but I believe the letter they got IS the NTK

chances are that the vehicle is registered in the eligible persons name with the DVLA and that V5C is kept by MOTABILITY , so I believe they got an NTK in the post , not a ticket to the windscreen, after smart parking checked the details with the DVLA ( not DLA )

so the RK is the child, but the person who "keeps" the car is actually the responsible adult and is the lead name on the motability insurance provided on the vehicle

complicated I know, but MOTABILITY keep all the documents and provide the insurance too, usually through RSA , they also send out the VED disabled zero rated "tax disc" too

Cheers Redx - thread fatigue, just so many to read and trying to contribute to most of them, inevitably leads me to skim reading at times.

I've edited my post - which now makes more sense (hopefully) and in context. :)

I've sent an appeal for to them. I will complain to Asda too but sadly I was under the impression the blue badge was exempt so have a potential 3 more PCM letters due..... There is tiny writing on the sign saying that disability badge holders need to register at customer services.

ok, in the meantime check on here what would be best for your defence at POPLA on the usual assumption they turn you down and provide a POPLA reference

I hope you kept your appeal in the third party

    the registered keeper blah blah

    the driver blah blah

    not I this and I that !!!

better not to admit to being the driver at this stage

good idea to sort out the BB with asda , and to also appeal to them to get all outstanding tickets waived, with receipts and bank statements to hand of course
  • Yes,.. I said the driver was not aware they needed to pre register.!!!!

It'll be a first if not so smart have sent an actual NtK.

Usually it's just a fishing letter followed by a NtO. Not the same thing as well they know. Hence they back down when it's pointed out to them.

Have you actually sent the appeal? It's only a few minutes since you were asking what's a NtK?

If you haven't sent it, please post your draft up here. It's important you get this right, especially with the complication that a minor might be the Registered Keeper.

The NTO doesn't state what the alleged contravention is, does it?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD
  • There is an online appeal process.... I just filled it in. I'm worrying now I should of put more detail.... I still don't know what an NTO is or an NTK
